CALL TO ORDER
The October 24, 2011, Special Council Meeting was convened at 5:35 P.M. by Mayor Eric
Struemph.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present:
Present: Bray, Carroll, Griffith, Koon, Harvey, Luebbert, Pope, Schulte, and
Scrivner, and Weber
Absent: None
A quorum was present.
DISCUSSION OF SITE OF CONFERENCE CENTER
Mr. Randy Allen, Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce, made a presentation
regarding the discussions held over the past several months on the issue of
"Transformation ". Assisting in the presentation were Ms. Jennifer Baker and Mr. Cary
Gampher who were members of the "Transformation's" Old Town Redevelopment Action
Team, specifically regarding the potential site of a Conference Center. They provided visual
information on the Conference Center for both the potential locations discussed: the
previously proposed West McCarty Street site and the MSP Redevelopment area.
Following the presentation, they answered several questions by the Council. Staff also
answered questions.
At the conclusion of the lengthy discussion, Mayor Eric Struemph announced that he is
directing Interim City Administrator Nathan Nickolaus to begin the process of obtaining
services which will assist the Council in site selection for the Conference Center. He
thanked the staff and the volunteers who have worked on this project over the past several
months.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion was made by Councilman Ralph Bray to adjourn, seconded by Councilman Shawn
Schulte, and approved unanimously at 6:45 P.M.
