HomeMy Public PortalAbout20111212 work sessionCOUNCIL WORK SESSION DECEMBER 12, 2011 1 CALL TO ORDER The December 12, 2011, Council Work Session was convened at 5:35 P.M. by Mayor Eric Struemph. ATTENDANCE The following Council Members were present: Present: Bray, Carroll (arrived at 5:40 P.M.), Griffith, Koon, Luebbert, Pope, Schulte, Scrivner, and Weber Absent: Harvey A quorum was present. DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS A. Conference Center Update Interim City Administrator / City Counselor Nathan Nickolaus gave a brief general report on the status of the conference center site selection process. He stated that the City will release the RFP on the issue within the next few days. After a site is selected, then there will be an RFQ for an architect, and a Design Committee would be chosen at that time. *Councilwoman Carrie Carroll arrived during this point in the meeting. At the conclusion of his presentation, Mr. Nickolaus answered questions asked by the Mayor and Council Members. B. Purchasing Procedures Interim City Administrator Nathan Nickolaus asked Interim City Counselor Drew Hilpert to give details of proposed changes to the City's purchasing procedures. Following his presentation, there was a lengthy discussion and a question and answer period. At the conclusion, staff was asked to send the Mayor and City Council state law regarding the issue, as well as provide information about what other cities do in certain instances. The Council determined it would like to discuss the issue further at a work session to be scheduled on January 9, 2012.
