Dear Mr. Adams: This Letter of Acknowledgement (LOA) is in response to your recent request to place tents on 16`h Street and Strand Avenue, Tybee Island, Georgia. The tents will be used for the Mardi Gras festival planned Saturday March 5, 2011 through Sunday March 6, 2011. Your request includes the placement of a 20' x 20' tent on the existing concrete at the center of the round -a -bout at 16th and Strand. A second 10' x 10' tent is proposed on existing concrete just left of the 16th Street crosswalk. The tents will be set up Saturday morning and removed Sunday evening. Both locations are landward of the dunes and seaward of the high water mark. No vegetation is present. Access to the area is through existing roads and driveways. No impacts to the sand sharing system are proposed. The Department authorizes the placement of two tents on existing concrete at 16th and Strand and just left of the 16`h Street crosswalk as depicted in the attached drawing and description. No heavy equipment or vehicles are allowed on the beach in connection with this project. All construction and lighting must comply with Department of Natural Resources Sea Turtle Guidelines. This Letter of acknowledgement is not meant to exempt the above referenced activity from future environmental laws. This project must comply with all other Federal, State, and local statutes, ordinances and regulations.
