YOUTH CONIl'4ISSION MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF NOVEMBER 1, 1989

Ralph Davis certified Agenda Posting by City Clerk
A`motion was made by Commissioner Shevonda Green approving the .minutes
of the regular meeting of October 6, 1989, with a second by Commissioner
Cameron'Green and all in agreement. ,
PRESS RELEASES:
Jim Given discussed the press releases that were sent to Continental
Cable regarding the opening of the Teen Center. Copies of the press
releases were distributed to the Commissioners.
TEEN CENTER UPDATE:
Jim Given stated the Teen Center had an opening on October 20, 1989; and
• opened for business October 23, 1989. The.Teen Center hours of
operation are Monday -,Friday 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. & Saturday 10:00
a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The Teen Center offers a variety of games, such as
Video, Pinball, Pool, Ping-Pong, and a Juke Box. In addition, there
will be Tutoring, Special Classes, a Resource Center of Concerns
= Relative to Teens, Counseling, Trips, Special Events and Services.
Commissioner Lee suggested that staff provide the Teen Center with, a
suggestion •box. •
COI"II�IISSION VACANCY UPDATE:
Ralph Davis was pleased to announce that on December 6, 1989 six (6) new
Commissioner would be appointed to the Youth Commission. Their 'names
are:
Miguel Lara Frankie Murphy
Allison Wills ` Michele Zavala
Jennifer McZeal
., YOUTH COMMISSION SU�OMMITTEE ASSIGNMENT DISC�ION
Ralph Davis suggested to the Commissioners that they make an effort to
attend their assigned Commission meetings and report back to the
� Commission at the next regular scheduled meeting on Wednesday, December
6, L989.
PUBLIC ORAL COMMUNICATIONS:
Steve Atkinson, a representative for the Electric Football Club, briefly_
discussed with Commissioners the art of playing Electric Football. The
game is played exactly like pro-football, with the exception of being
played on a table instead of a field. Further discussion will be made
on this topic at the next scheduled meeting Wednesday, December 6, 1989.
ADJOURNMENT:
A motion was made, seconded and all in agreement to adjourn to the next
scheduled meeting on Wednesday, December 6, 1989 in the Teen/Resource
Center, 11409 Birch Avenue, Lynwood.
