YOUTH COMMISSION MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF JULY 6, 1989
The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Errick Lee at 6:20 p.m.
in Room lll of Bateman Hall.
Chairperson Lee led all present in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call of Commissioners Present:

Commissioner Ralph Davis IV

Commissioner Sylvia Ramirez
SCHEDULED MATTERS
Ralph Davis certified the Agenda Posting by the City Clerk.
A motion was made by Commissioner Davis approving the minutes of the
regular meeting of June 7, 1989, with a second by Commissioner Ramirez
and all in agreement.
CORRESPONDENCE I
Ralph Davis introduced the new Recording Clerk, D'yaisha Yarber to the I
Youth Commission. I

MONTHLY STAFF REPORTS: I
Jim Given, Recreation Superintendent, Parks & Recreation, gave an oral
overview of current recreation programs and the Teen center. Jim also
indicated that at the meeting of August 2, 1989, he would provide the I
commission with a report on the status of the Job Training Partnership �
Act Program. i
Chairperson Lee, announced he thought the Youth Commission should,leave I
the August 2, 1989 meeting open for a brain stozming session in order to
go over their upcoming school year program. A motion was made by '

Shiniqua Green and seconded by Ralph Davis IV and all in agreement. I

REPORT ON YOUTH COMMISSION ORDINANCE
Ralph Davis, reported the City Council has approved an ordinance
establishing the Youth Commission on June 20, 1989. Copies of the
ordinance were distributed to the Youth Commission members.
Ralph Davis stated the Youth Commission members would now be receiving a
stipend of $25.00 for each meeting they attend.
REPORT ON MEMBERSHIP GUIDELINES:
Chairperson Errick Lee asked each Commission member to suggest some
guidelines for membership in the Youth Commission. Chairperson Lee
discussed the possibility that each member would submit a few
suggestions by the next scheduled meeting.
SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS:
A motion was made by Commissioner Davis to table this particular item
until the meeting of August 2, 1989, all were in agreement.
PUBLIC ORAL COMMUNICATION None I
COMMISSION ORAL & WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS I

Ralph Davis informed the Commission that thls section of the agenda was �
to be used by the Commission to discuss any item on the Agenda or have I
an item added to the Agenda. After a short discussion, the Commission
decided to address this issue at the meeting of August 2, 1989. I
