I i i i � i i I j � i I . • � � CITY OF LYNWOOD RECREATION & PARKS YOUTH COMMISSION YOUTH COMMISSION MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF APRIL 13, 1989 The meeting was called to order by Commission Advisor Ralph Davis at 5:30 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was also led by Ralph Davis. Roll Call of Commissioners Present: Shiniqua Green Isadore Hall Cameron Green Tatanisha Sanders • � DaVanna Wells La Shonda Wells Ralph Davis IV William Jones Carnecia Banks Sylvia Ramirez ' Errick Lee Allison Wells SCHEDULED MATTERS Ralph Davis certified the Agenda Posting by the City Clerk. ELECTION OF OFFICERS Election of officers was held with following results: ' Chairperson Errick Lee � Chairperson Pro Tem Isadore Hall � Secretary Shiniqua Green � MONTHLY STAFF REPORTS: i Jim Given gave an oral report on current programs and information on the Teen I Center. Mr. Given indicated that monthly reports will be sent, in regards to i Recreation programming and activities of the Teen Center. � COMMISSION MEETING TIME I � After discussion of determining a regular meeting day, the Commission accepted I a motion from Isadore Hall to host their regular monthly me�ting on the first � Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. This motion was seconded by Ralph Davis i and approved unanimounsly. I REPORT ON GIRL SCOUT HOUSE � Mr. Davis read a letter from the Greater Long Beach Girl Scout Council regarding � the City Council's interest in obtaining their building on Birch Street, in � Lynwood for possible use as a Teen Center. Chairperson Lee indicated he would � like to see a letter come from the Youth Commission to the City Council and Greater Long Beach Girl Scout Council, thanking them for this gesture when the transaction is completed. � DISCUSSION ON GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: � Mr. Davis reminded the Commission, of the responsibilities in regards to the � goals and objectives set by the City Council. After discussing, it was decided � to place the following items on the next Agenda. ' � � I Page ltao • . ^ � ,. 1. Guidelines for Membership - Youth Council. 2. Guidelines and report on Sheriffs Tutorial Program. 3. Activities for 1989 calendar year. Ralph Davis, Cameron Green and Shiniqua Green appointed by Chairperson Pro tem Hall to prepare guidelines on the tutorial Program. The guidelines were pre- approved by the Commission and are to be sent to the Sheriffs Athletic League for immediate use. PUBLIC ORAL - Mr. Iona Coleman asked about guidelines of joining the Youth Council. Mr. Davis indicated the Youth Council was available to all youth 12-22 years of age in the City of Lynwood. Applications are available in the Recreation and Parks Office. COMMISSION ORAL - Cameron Green asked if the Trolley system goes by the Girl Scout House. Mr. Davis stated; he would find out. i ADJOURNMENT I j The meeting was adjourned to the regular meeting scheduled for Wednesday, May I 3, 1989 in Room 2 at Bateman Hall, 11331 Ernestine Avenue, Lynwood.
