Call to Order
Chair Telman called the meeting to order at 6 : 02 p .m .
Citizens Speak
Cindy Bingham, Chair of the Brewster Select Board, thanked the committee for coming forward with a responsible
and conservative budget. She also thanked them for all their hard work. She thanked Claire Gradone for her service to
the Town of Brewster for so many years .
PRIORITY BUSINESS
Request From Brewster Whitecaps — Field Application
Peter Blatz requested the usual field application for the fields during the April vacation .
A letter was shared with the Committee that Mr. Gauley will send to parents .
Motion : On a motion by Jessica Larsen, seconded by Claire Gradone, it was voted unanimously, 4-0, to approve the
request from the Brewster Whitecaps to apply granules on the field during April vacation .
Administrators ' Reports
Principals ' reports were included in the packet. Mr. Gauley informed the committee that a bench will be placed at the
school in memory of Damien Larsen . This will be a private ceremony with family members and school students who
knew Damien .
FY19 Budget
Ms . Venditti reviewed the expenditure reports with the committee highlighting items with significant movement. The
Stony Brook budget has a balance of 436,348 . She unencumbered $ 10, 000 from account 5054, electricity. She
encumber $4,252 in account 5048, Contracted Services Building, for HVAC, plumbing and electrical work. Line item
50953 SN Tuition, reclassified $ 1 ,320 and put back into the budget. The Eddy budget balance is $3 , 905 . She
anticipates receiving $64, 002 from FY19 Circuit Breaker Funds and $69, 000 from extraordinary relief. Line item
7087, encumber $ 1 , 816 for outside assessment due to student need . Line item 7092, Out of District Transportation
needed to be recalculated due to the number of students - $24, 500 . Line item 7053 , Electric and Gas was increased by
$ 7, 000 to pay for gas and $7, 000 was put back into the budget from the electricity account. Line Item 7048 ,
Contracted Services Building, returned $3 , 788 to the budget. Line item 7097, SN Out of District Tuition increased by
$ 37,616 with the arrival of another student. She applied Circuit Breaker Funds and reclassified to grants $6, 300 of
expenses .
Chair Telman inquired about the repairs and cost for the gym floor . Ms . Venditti indicated that she would get that
information to him .
School Choice
Assistant Superintendent Gauley indicated that the Superintendent does not recommend participation in School Choice
for 2019-2020 .
On a motion by Jessica Larsen, seconded by Kristen Callahan, it was voted unanimously, 4-0 , not to participate in
school choice for 2019-2020 .

Educational Vision —
Assistant Superintendent Gauley announced the two upcoming forums for Brewster Visioning on Wednesday, March
27"' at 6 : 00 p .m . and Saturday, April 6 at 10 : 00 a.m . at Stony Brook Elementary School ,
REPORTS AND INFORMATION
Preschool enrollment — No report
Cape Cod Collaborative — No report
PTO — Kristen Callahan reported that the Pasta Dinner was a big success . The Book Fair was held March 84 0 . She
also inquired about the PTO in terms of the vision for Nauset High School .
School Council — Keith Gauley shared that Stony Brook School Council will be reviewing the survey results . Claire
Gradone reported that the Council is reviewing results from the Eddy School Climate Survey.
Policy — No report
Substance Abuse Task Force No report
Building Needs Assessment Subcommittee — No report
Wellness Subcommittee — No report
Strategic Plan Subcommittee — Jessica Larsen indicated the committee is meeting and laying out the vision and plan .
They are encouraging feedback from the schools .
Claire Gradone announced that this would be her last Brewster School Committee meeting as a member of the
Committee . She is moving to Orleans . Chair Telman thanked Claire for her service on the committee and more
importantly, her service to the children of Brewster.
Approval of Minutes
Motion : On a motion by Jessica Larsen, seconded by Claire Gradone, it was voted 4 yeas, to approve the minutes of
February 28 , 2019 .
Adjournment
On a motion by Claire Gradone seconded by Jessica Larsen, it was voted unanimously 4-0, to adjourn the meeting at
6 : 21 p .m . , subject to payment of bills .
