Brewster Housing Partnership
Minutes of the February 14, 2019 Meeting
Members Present : Lisa Forhan, Diane Pansire, Ralph Marotti , Sarah Robinson, Vanessa Greene
Guests Present : Jill Scalise, Housing Coordinator and Donna Kalinick, Asst Town Administrator
1 . Call to Order : Meeting called to order.
2 . Minutes : Minutes were approved from the January meeting .
3 . Updates from Housing Coordinator : Jill provided a report on her areas of focus . She
has recently updated the Housing Office webpage and created a Brewster Community
Housing handout. She updated the group on progress made by the Affordable Housing
Trust, which is in the process of organizing a Community Housing Forum . Diane was the
BHP representative at a recent planning meeting and the date in April is to be determined .
Jill noted that applications were open for the Habitat for Humanity homes on Paul Hush
way and that there had been significant interest at a recent information session where
over 30 potential applications were in attendance . Dates for upcoming Cape Housing
Advocacy (Feb23 ) and Lower Cape Peer Group Meeting (March 7) were provided . An
update on a recent buy- down grant and the community engagement surrounding the pre-
feasability study for the Millstone parcel was highlighted .
4 . Review of the Housing Production Plan : Implementation strategies from the Housing
Production Plan were discussed to determine where the Housing Partnership could have
impact . Thoughts for potential new programs were discussed as well as the current work
being done to maintain the Subsidized Housing Inventory ( SHI) . The group agreed that a
focus for the Partnership could be community education, inviting speakers to come to
monthly meetings on an ongoing basis . The presentation made by David Quinn from
HAC in January was well received and had robust attendance . Possible topics discussed
ageing in place, Cape Cod Commission Housing report, ADU by-law education, and 40b
education.
5 . Items not reasonably anticipated by the Chair : Ralph provided a CPC Sub- Committee
report noting that the Sub- Committee was recommending to CPC funding of the Cape
Housing Institute and the part-time Housing Coordinator position for 2019 .
