SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation administers the Waterways Improvement Fund program which provides grant funds for boating improvements. The funds are from motorized boater
registration fees and are for projects that benefit motorized boat users.
A wooden dock at Legacy Park was removed a number of years ago due its deteriorated and unsafe condition. The wooden pier remains in place. Funds from the IDPR Waterways Improvement
Fund are being sought to install a new dock to provide additional day use mooring for boaters and to alleviate congestion at the City boat launch. The dock would not interfere with
the identified swimming area at Legacy Park. The project is supported by Valley County Waterways Advisory Committee and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee. Matching funds
of $15,000 have been committed by Valley County through the Waterways Advisory Committee. Because this is a replacement of an already permitted dock, no additional permits are required
from the Idaho Department of Lands.
The project would consist of the installation of 65’ of EZ dock and an anchoring system. A preliminary cost estimate has been provided by Inland Marine of McCall. A contractor would
be hired to install the docks and the City Parks staff would assist in installing the anchoring system.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve submission of a Waterways Improvement Fund grant application to the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation for the dock replacement project at Legacy Park.
