SUMMARY STATEMENT:
At the request of Mayor Don Bailey the Parks and Recreation Department has researched possible solutions to improve safety and minimize user conflicts at the volleyball court in Legacy
Park. The current location of the volleyball court has created a situation where users of the court often negatively interact with users of the boat ramp. Participants in a volleyball
game will often chase the volleyball into traffic at the boat ramp. This is an unsafe situation the needs to be addressed. Concurrently, users of the boat ramp have had themselves and
their watercraft struck by a volleyball. Mitigating the safety concerns and the user conflicts is in the best interest of the City of McCall.
There are two solutions to the problem. Moving the court to the area behind the pump house at Legacy Park or netting the north end of the volleyball court are being considered. A complete
analysis will be available for Council review.
The Council may wish to consider using Council Contingency funds for this purpose. The Council Contingency line (10-41-750-999) has $5,000 for FY12.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Provide direction to staff regarding actions related to the volleyball court.
