Town Clerk L. Seton Lindsay William F. Koch Henry V. Pope Curtis H. Dodson Henry F. Lilienthal J. R. Fountain Mr. William S. LaPorte was also in attendance. Minutes of the regular October 11, 1958 and the Special were read, approved and adopted. Commission Meeting held on Meeting held on November 10 1958 Mayor Lindsay reported that the water samples were satisfactory for October, 1958- Mayor Lindsay read the monthly police report of each officer for October 1958. J. R. Fountain reported that the Town Auditors had the Town's records so that a complete financial report could not be made. Ms. Dodson reported that he had received several com- plaints regarding overgrown vacant lots. The Commissioners in- structed J. R. Fountain to notify certain vacant lot owners and request that they clean their lots. Mayor Lindsay read three letters from C. P. Young. The Mayor then read a letter drafted in reply and instructed J. R. Fountain to have it typed and placed in the mails on Monday, November 10th. The Commissioners unanimously approved. Mayor Lindsay said that Ernest Glass had been employed by the Town for nearly 8 years and that he was anxious to get a raise. Mayor Lindsay said that Ernest Glass had been instructed not to do any work for any individual during his 8 hours of duty for the Town. Mr. Dodson, Mr. Koch, and Mayor Lindsay voted to increase Ernest Glass's wages 10¢ per hour, making $1.35 per hour. Mr. Pope and Mr. Koch said this raise was contingent on Ernest Glass doing work that was satisfactory to Police Chief Roy Cowart. The Commissioners authorized J. R. Fountain to get-bids on the rental of 2 police cars for 1959. Mr. Pope made a motion that a 35 MPH speed limit be adopted by the Town. Mr. Koch seconded and the motion carried. t - 2 - Mayor Lindsay and Mr. Pope opened 3 bids for the road work. The specifications call for a twenty foot road way 8 deep compacted to 6" with lime rock base, asphalt and slag surface. B. Boldt - $1.27 sl Hardrives - 1.23 s Murphy - 1.22 sly The Commissioners agreed to have these firms submit amended bids to include the catch basins and drainage pipes. Specifications to be drawn by the Engineer, Ben Hur. The proposed resolution was read: RESOLUTION #479 BE IT RESOLVED, that Mr. Ben Herd engineer, be com- missioned to draw up the specifications for the catch basins, �( grill covers and drainage pipes and for the Gulf Stream and Banyan Road repair work. Mr. Dodson made a motion the above resolution be ap- proved and adopted. After a second by Mr. Koch, the motion carried unanimously. The Commissioners approved the collection of a 10 per cent.levy added to each water bill beginning November, 1958• This levy was authorized by Ordinance #117. The funds collected must be saved for improvements to the water distribution system of the Town. and credited to the Water Distribution Fund.
