SUMMARY STATEMENT:
To meet the eligibility requirements for a hospital to buy discounted outpatient drugs under Section 340B of the Public Health Service Act, Certification of Contract with State/Local
Government to provide Health Care Services to Low Income Individuals must be completed and signed by both parties. Pursuant to the requirement of Section 340B of the Public Health Service
Act (42 U.S.C. 256b), a valid contract needs to be in place between the private, non-profit hospital St. Lukes McCall, and the City of McCall, to provide health care services to low
income individuals who are not entitled to benefits under Title XVIII of the Social Security Act or eligible for assistance under the State plan of Title XIX of the Social Security
Act.
As part of the Memorandum of Understanding the City of McCall would acknowledge the commitment of St. Lukes McCall to provide indigent care, and acknowledge that the health care services
provided by St. Lukes McCall would be in the public interest and would be provided to individuals who are not entitled to benefits under Title XVIII of the Social Security Act or eligible
for assistance under any State plan pursuant to Title XIX of the Social Security Act, and acknowledge that St. Lukes would provide these services at no reimbursement or for considerably
less than full reimbursement from the patients.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the Memorandum of Understanding with St. Lukes McCall and authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
