RESOLUTION NO.19-9721
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO
CLOSE ALL CITY OF OPA-LOCKA OFFICES FROM DECEMBER
25, 2019 THROUGH DECEMBER 27, 2019 AND PROVIDE PAID
VACATION TO EMPLOYEES; PROVIDING FOR
INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Article VIII, Section 2 of the Florida Constitution provides that
municipalities shall have governmental, corporate and proprietary powers to enable
municipalities to conduct municipal government, perform municipal functions, and
render municipal services; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the referenced provision of the Florida Constitution,
the City may exercise any power for municipal purposes except as otherwise
provided by law; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 166, Florida Statutes, the "Municipal Home Rule Powers
Act" implements the applicable provisions of the Florida Constitution and
authorizes municipalities to exercise any power for municipal purposes, except
when expressly prohibited by law and to enact ordinances in furtherance thereof;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Opa-locka ("City") intends to designate the period
from December 25 through December 27 as an annual "Holiday Season"; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission has determined that critical or essential
employees will be credited for the additional paid vacation pursuant to City policy;
and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of City of Opa-locka finds that it is in the
best interest of the City of Opa-locka to close its offices from December 25, 2019
through December 27, 2019.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA:
Section 1. RECITALS ADOPTED.
The recitals to the preamble herein are incorporated by reference.
Section 2. AUTHORIZATION

The City Commission hereby directs the City Manager to close all City of
Opa-locka offices from December 25, 2019 through December 27, 2019 and
provide paid vacation time to employees.
Section 3. SCRIVENER'S ERRORS.
Sections of this Resolution may be renumbered or re -lettered and corrections
of typographical errors which do not affect the intent may be authorized by
the City Manager, or the City Manager's designee, without need of public
hearing, by filing a corrected copy of same with the City Clerk.
Section 4. EFFECTIVE DATE.
This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption and is subject to
the approval of the Governor or his designee.
