SUMMARY STATEMENT:
At the June 29, 2012 Council Meeting, Council approved Resolution Number 12-13 adopting the City of McCall’s Public Art Policies and Recommendations. This policy requires that any artist
wanting to donate art to the City of McCall the policy states that when a work is offered as a donation to the City it is recommended that the Public Art Advisory Committee and the
City review these works to consider site appropriateness, aesthetic quality, and appropriateness for the collection, maintenance needs, and such issues. Once the committee has reviewed
the art, the committee will make a recommendation to the Council for final acceptance or rejection of the donation.
Zella Bardsley, artist of the artwork titled Stalactites, displayed in Legacy Park, has offered to donate the art piece to the City of McCall. The Public Art Advisory Committee is reviewing
the art and should have a recommendation to Council at the January 24, 2013 Council Meeting. The Stalactites was originally part of the Art Walk started by the Arts and Humanities Council
in 2008. There was a short term lease developed to enable the City to insure the art pieces from the Art Walk on the City’s insurance policy of which Ms. Bardsley has participated in
since 2009. To assure that the piece is properly insured while the process to either accept or reject the donation, a lease with a term of December 1, 2012 through January 31, 2013
has been signed by Ms. Bardsley. The value of the art piece, estimated by the artist, is $3,000. Upon the approval of the Council the piece will continue to be insured.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve the Personal Property Lease Agreement with Zella Bardsley and authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
