CALL TO ORDER
The August 15, 2011, "Pre- Meeting" Work Session was convened at 5:45 P.M. by Mayor
Eric Struemph.
ATTENDANCE
The following Council Members were present:
Present: Bray, *Carroll (arrived at 5:50 P.M.), Griffith, Harvey, Koon, Luebbert,
Pope, Schulte, Scrivner, and Weber
Absent: None
DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS
Consent Agenda - Interim City Administrator Nathan Nickolaus explained that the Consent
Agenda is going back to the method which the City Council utilized in the past for approving
routine items which don't rise to the level of requiring a resolution or ordinance. He stated
that approving items on the Consent Agenda only require a majority voice vote of those
Council Members present. He recommended that, unless the Council felt it would like to
remove certain items for individual discussion, they can vote to approve the entire Consent
Agenda which should help streamline the meeting.
Bill 2011 -51 (Reauthorization of festival districts) - Interim City Counselor Drew Hilpert
explained the various amendments which have been put into the latest substitute bill.
Councilman Bob Scrivner suggested that the City may wish to make the language "gender
neutral" as that appears to be the way documents are moving. He pointed out a few
instances in the substitute bill that refer to the City Administrator as "he." Mr. Hilpert stated
those instances could be corrected as scrivener's errors to the final bill.
