SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Council may wish to consider having a ‘retreat’ or lengthy off-site work session. The topic has been discussed informally in the past, and Council members have requested this agenda
item to consider the topic more fully.
The Council has conducted two similar retreats in the recent past, on July 17, 2008 and March 5, 2010. Both of those retreats were held at the Hotel McCall. Topics covered during those
sessions included:
City Council Vision
City Council and City Manager roles, responsibilities and expectations
City Council’s expectations for the City Manager and City Manager’s priorities for action
City Council ‘governance’ (i.e. the way the Council operates, makes decisions, communicates, expectations for each other, etc.)
Performance Evaluation of the City Manager
Additional topics that the Council may wish to consider include:
FY13 budget priorities and expectations.
Planning and funding for capital improvement projects, such as streets, sidewalks & bike paths.
Wastewater issues.
