SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The McCall Donnelly Education Foundation is accepting grant applications in several categories including “programs that promote healthier lifestyles and physical activities”. The Recreation
Department wishes to apply for funding to purchase snorkeling equipment for youth so that they can learn a new skill, increase physical activity, how to properly care for and clean
equipment, and learn about life in the underwater world. Mark Pernell, Recreation Coordinator, is a certified Open Water SCUBA instructor and will serve as instructor. Grant funds
will be sought for snorkels, masks, fins and shorty wetsuits.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve submission of an MDEF grant for recreation equipment and authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
