MEMORANDUM DATE: September 3, 2019 TO: The Honorable City Council FROM : Bryan Cook , City Manager By: Steve Lawson , Parks and Recreation Manager SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS -MEETING OF AUGUST 21, 2019 RECOMMENDATION: The City Council is requested to receive and file the Parks and Recreation Commission actions from their meeting of August 21, 2019 . BACKGROUND: On August 21 ,2019, the Parks and Recreation Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting . ANALYSIS: Following is a summary of actions taken at the August 21 , 2019 , Parks and Recreation Commiss ion meeting: 1. ROLL CALL : Present: Absent: Excused : Commissioner -Baroldi , Tarin , Vice-Chairman Rosso Commissioner-Haddad , Chairman Vance Commissioner -None 2 . CONSENT CALENDAR The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the minutes of the July 17 , 2019, meeting and received and filed the Monthly Report for July 2019 . City Council September 3 , 2019 Page 2 of 2 3 . NEW BUSINESS A. REQUEST FROM BLISS & WISDOM CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION FOR RESERVED USE OF THE PERFORMING ARTS PAVILION AND GRASS AREAS AT TEMPLE CITY PARK FOR A THANKSGIVING FESTIVAL ON NOVEMBER 16 , 2019 The Commission approved the request from Bliss & Wisdom Charitable Organization for reserved use of the Performing Arts Pavilion and grass areas at Temple City Park on November 16, 2019. 4 . COMMUNICATIONS A. The Commission received a verbal presentation regarding recen t department staff promotions, new staff members , accomplishments of our three Recreation Coordinators, and the new Parks & Recreation Director. 5. UPDATE FROM PARKS & RECREATION MANAGER A. The Commission received the Parks and Recreation Manager's Report for the month of August 2019 . CITY STRATEGIC GOALS: Reviewing the Commission actions of August 21 , 2019, furthers the City's Strategic Goal of Citizen Education and Communication . FISCAL IMPACT: This item does not have an impact on the F iscal Year (FY) 2019-20 City Budget.
