SUBJECT: PLANNING COMMISSION ACTIONS -MEETING OF AUGUST 27 ,2019
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council is requested to receive and file the Planning Commission
(Comm iss ion) actions from their meeting of August 27 , 2019 .
BACKGROUND:
On August 27 , 2019 , the Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting .
ANALYSIS :
The following is a summary of actions taken at the August 27 , 2019 , meeting :
1. ROLL CALL:

2 . REORGANIZATION OF PLANNING COMMISSION
A. The Commission took the follow ing actions :
V ice-Cha ir Lee was e lected as Chair . Commissioner Haddad was elected
as Vice-Chair.

3 . CONSENT CALENDAR
The Commission approved the minutes from their regular meeting of July 23 ,
2019.
4 . PUBLIC HEARING
A. PL 18-1454:4922 ARDEN DRIVE .
DESCRIPTION : A request for a time extension for Tentative Parcel Map No .
74889 , a flag lot subdivision approved in 2017 . The Tentative Map will
e xp i re on October 2 1,2019 .
ACTION : The Commission voted 5-0 to approve file PL 18-1454 and adopt
the resolution f inding that the project is exempt from CEQA, subject to the
recommended conditions of approval.
B. PL 19-1955: 5924 RENO AVENUE .
DESCRIPTION : A request for a time extension for Tentative Parcel Map No .
73888 and the associated site plan review . The project is a lot split
subdivision for the improvement of two single-family residences . The project
was originally approved in 2016 and a time extension was granted in 2018 .
This is the second request for a t ime extension .
ACTION: The Commission voted 5-0 to approve file PL 19-1955 and adopt
the resolution finding that the project is exempt from CEQA , subject to the
recommended conditions of approval.
C . PL 19-1915: 5449 ROSEMEAD BLVD .
DESCRIPTION : A modification to a conditional use permit that would allow
an existing restaurant to operate seven days a week , from 8 :00 a .m . to 2 :00
a .m. the following morning . The restau rant is currently allowed to operate
from 11 :00 a .m . to 9 :30 p .m . Sunday through Thursday, and 11 :00 a .m. to
10 :00 p .m . on Friday and Saturday. The restaurant is currently allowed to
sell beer and wine for consumption on site .
ACTION : The Commission voted 5-0 to approve f ile PL 19-1915 and adopt
the resolution finding that the project is exempt from CEQA, subject to the
recommended cond itions of approval.

D. PL 19-1838: 627 1 ROSEMEAD BLVD .
DESCRIPTION : A conditional use perm it to allow dog day care serv ices at
an existing dog groom i ng business . No overn ight boarding wou ld be
allowed .
ACTION: The Commission voted 5-0 to approve file PL 19-1915 and adopt
the resolution to mod ify condition 3 to modify condit ion from 10 to 15 dogs
and condition 8 to add a trash receptac le on the turf area . The proj ect is
exempt from CEQA.

8. UPDATE FROM THE PLANNING MANAGER
Plann i ng Manager Re imers announced that Community Development Director
Forbes w ill be leaving Temple City in September due to finding a new j ob w ith the
City of Thousand Oaks as a Deputy Commun ity Development Director .
9 . ADJOURNMENT
The Commission meeting was adjourned at 8 :55 p.m .
