SUBJECT: ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 20-5455 CONFIRMING MAYOR'S APPOINTMENT OF COUNCILMEMBERS TO SERVE AS DELEGATES AND AL TERNA TES TO OTHER AGENCIES OR ORGANIZATIONS RECOMMENDATION: The City Council is requested to adopt Resolution No . 20-5455 (Attachment "A") confirming Mayor's appointment of Councilmembers to serve as delegates and alternates to other agencies or organizations. BACKGROUND: On March 4, 2020, the City Council reorganized and seated a new Mayor Tom Chavez and Mayor Pro Tern Vincent Yu. ANALYSIS: Each year after the City Council reorganizes , and with City Council input, the Mayor reviews and selects representative delegates and alternates to other governmental agencies and/or organizations. A listing of those organizations is attached as an exhibit (Exhibit 1) to the proposed resolution. Regular meeting days and times are indicated for each organization, as well as those agencies that pay a stipend for meeting attendance and have conflict of interest reporting requirements . Councilmembers serving as the delegate to these governmental agencies and/or organizations attend regularly scheduled meetings to discuss and make recommendations regarding issues that may affect cities in the Los Angeles County. Delegates to these governmental agencies and/or organizations also have the official City Council March 17, 2020 Page 2 of 2 voting responsibilities. No changes were made to the appointments this year except the update of Mayoral Delegate appointment for the Los Angeles County Sanitation District (i.e., only the mayor can serve as delegate for this organization). CITY STRATEGIC GOALS: Approval of Mayor's appointment of Councilmembers representing City of Temple City at meetings of other governmental agencies or community organizations will ensure City's Strategic Goal of Good Governance. FISCAL IMPACT: This item does not have a fiscal impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2019-10 City Budget. ATTACHMENT: A. Resolution No. 20-5455 ATTACHMENT A RESOLUTION NO. 20-5455 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY MAKING APPOINTMENTS TO VARIOUS OUTSIDE AGENCIES AND CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEES WHEREAS, by virtue of their position as a City Councilmember, the Councilmembers are eligible to serve on various committees; WHEREAS, the Mayor has requested and received information from various Councilmembers on their interest in serving on various committees; WHEREAS, the Mayor has presented his recommendations for the various City Council committee appointments and, WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed said recommendations. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES HEREBY RESOLVE: SECTION 1. The appointments contained on Exhibit "1" for the various City Council committees are hereby made; and, SECTION 2. Appointments are effective upon passage of this resolution and shall continue until the next regularly scheduled selection of Mayor of the City of Temple City.
