SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS -REGULAR
MEETING OF JANUARY 15 , 2020
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council is requested to rece ive and file the Parks and Recreation Commission
(Commission) actions from their regular meeting of January 15 , 2020 .
BACKGROUND:
On January 15 , 2020, the Commission held their regularly schedu led meeting .
ANALYSIS:
Following is a summary of actions taken at the January 15 , 2020 , Commission regu lar
meeting :
1. ROLL CALL:

2 . CONSENT CALEND AR
The Commission approved the minutes of the November 20 , 2019 , meeting and
received and filed the Monthly Report for November and December 2019.

3. NEW BUSINESS
A. 2019 HOLIDAY DECORATING CONTEST AFTER ACTION REPORT
The Commission received and filed the 2019 Holiday Decorating Contest After
Action Report with the following recommendations : an application need not be
necessary to participate ; that businesses should be included in the contest ; to
solicit the participation from the City Council and the Commission for the
judging process ; staff would drive judges i n city issued vehicles to canvas the
City the evenings of the judging dates ; and past winners would not be eligible
to win consecutive years .
4. COMMUNICATIONS
A. The Commission received a verbal presentation regarding awards provide d to
part-time staff, full-time employee accomplishments , employee recruitments ,
and new hires within the Parks and Recreation Department.
5 . UPDATE FROM PARKS & RECREATION DIRECTOR
A. The Commission received the Parks and Recreation Director's Report for the
month of January 2020 .
CITY STRATEGIC GOALS:
Reviewing the Commission actio ns of January 15 , 2019 , furthers the City 's Strategic Goal
of Citizen Education and Communication .
FISCAL IMPACT:
·This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2019-20 City Budget.
