HomeMy Public PortalAboutCity Council_Resolution No. 20-5467_2020 Engineering and Traffic Survey and Recommended Speed Limits_5/19/2020_RegularRESOLUTION NO, 20-5467 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE 2020 ENGINEERING AND TRAFFIC SURVEY AND RECOMMENDED SPEED LIMITS WHEREAS, Section 627 of the CVC defines the term engineering and traffic survey and lists the requirements deemed necessary by the Department of Transportation; and WHEREAS, Pursuant to Sections 22357 and 22358 of the California Vehicle Code (CVC) local authorities may establish prima facie speed limits on streets and roads under their jurisdiction; and WHEREAS, Pursuant to Sections 40801 and 40802 of the CVC an Engineering and Traffic Survey was conducted to establish prima facie speed limits on streets in the City of Temple City; and WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 40802 of the CVC local agencies should conduct engineering studies at least once every 5, 7 or 10 years to reevaluate non -statutory speed limits on streets and roadways under their jurisdiction; and WHEREAS, the City's Traffic Engineer, Transtech, surveyed 24 street segments in the City of Temple City as part of the City of Temple City 2020 Engineering and Traffic Survey NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Approve and adopt the City of Temple City 2020 Engineering and Traffic Survey and recommended speed limits on various streets within the City of Temple City. SECTION 2. The posted speed limits on the following segments are to be reduced by 5 mph from 30 mph to 25 mph: a) SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall cert Street Segment #8: Daines Drive between Baldwin Avenue and EI Monte Avenue b) Street Segment #10: Freer Street between EI Monte Avenue and Santa Anita Avenue c) Street Segment #13: Grand Avenue between EI Monte Avenue and Santa Anita Avenue d) Street Segment #14: Halifax Road between Live Oak Avenue and Lower Azusa Road e) Street Segment #17: Lemon Avenue between Oak Avenue and Golden West Avenue ATTEST: Peggy Kuo, City le ify to the passage and adoption of this resolution.
