BACKGROUND: On June 9, 2020, the Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting. ANALYSIS: The following is a summary of actions taken at the June 9, 2020 meeting: 1. ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioner - Cordes, Guan, O’Leary, Haddad, Lee Absent: Commissioner - None Excused: Commissioner - None 2. CONSENT CALENDAR The Commission approved the minutes from their regular meeting of May 26, 2020. City Council July 7, 2020 Page 2 of 2 3. PUBLIC HEARINGS A. PL19-1668: 5637 SANTA ANITA AVE DESCRIPTION: A request for a conditional use permit to increase the height of an existing changeable copy sign from 12 feet to 16 feet. ACTION: The Commission voted 5-0 to approve file PL19-1668 and adopted the resolution subject to the conditions of approval, and find the project categorially exempt from CEQA. 4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS – None 5. NEW BUSINESS – None 6. COMMUNICATIONS – None 7. UPDATE FROM THE PLANNING MANAGER Mr. Reimers, Interim Community Development Director mentioned that City Council met to discuss the draft fiscal year 2020-2021 budget. He mentioned that the budget is expecting reductions in City revenues because of the pandemic. He also noted that there are two vacant positions in the Community Enhancement Division that will not be filled, the Building and Code Inspector 1 and either the Director or Planning Manager. The city has budgeted $30,000 for the housing element. The next meeting is scheduled for June 23, 2020. The re-organization for the Planning Commission will be done the first meeting in July. 8. ADJOURNMENT The Commission meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m. CITY STRATEGIC GOALS: Reviewing the Commission actions of June 9, 2020, furthers the City’s Strategic Goals of Citizen Education and Communication. FISCAL IMPACT : This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year 2019-20 City Budget.
