SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The McCall Public Library is requesting approval to submit a grant application to the McCall-Donnelly
Education Foundation in an amount not to exceed $5700 to equip and furnish a recording studio and test
proctoring room with quality recording equipment, computer, desk, seating and sound proofing within the
Library Expansion Project. Once equipped, the space will enable students and others the opportunity to
record or practice music, create podcasts, or collect oral histories. It will also provide a quiet and private
space for test proctoring and studying for students enrolled online schools, colleges, and post-graduate
studies and trade skills proficiency exams.
The McCall-Donnelly Education Foundation offers grants for projects in four categories:
1. New and innovative programs that drive academic success
2. Programs that engage parents and the community in education in new and innovative ways
3. Innovative programs that promote art, music, and creative thinking
4. Programs that promote healthier lifestyles and physical activities in new and innovative ways

https://mdef.org/grants/ The grant request will articulate that the award would be contingent upon passage
of the Library Expansion Project bond and planned construction in 2021. A copy of the Library Expansion
design floor plan is attached showing the location of the recording/test proctoring studio.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve submittal of a McCall-Donnelly Education Foundation grant application and authorize the
Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
