From: Jorge M. Gonzalez, Village Manager 1•
Date: June 28, 2023
Subject: Freebee On -Demand Transportation Service Hours Adjustment Starting
on July 1, 2023
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you information related to the
adjustment in operating hours forthe Bal Harbour Village Freebee On -Demand transportation
service for residents and visitors. The Freebee On -Demand service was initiated on December
21, 2022, with positive results. The current schedule for this service is detailed below:
Daily Hours of operation:
8 am - 1 pm; 2 pm - 7 pm
The one (1) hour break in service depicted provides for charging, vehicle cleaning and a driver
break period.
Subsequently during the May 16, 2023, Village Council meeting, a Discussion
Item/Presentation detailing the first quarter ridership results was communicated to the Council
by Freebee representative Francisco Medina. Mr. Medina provided an analysis of the ridership
and noted that the service users primarily requested pickup after 10:00 am. During further
discussion, Francisco recommended that the service hours be adjusted to start later and end
later to enhance the opportunity for residents to use this service during the evening hours,
which resulted in Council consensus being reached.
After the May Council meeting and analysis conducted on ridership since inception to date
and further discussion with the vendor, starting July 1, 2023, the Freebee hours of operation
will be adjusted as detailed below:
Monday through Thursday: 10 am - 3 pm; 4 pm - 9 pm
Friday/Saturday: 10 am - 3 pm; 4 pm - 10 pm
Sunday: 10 am - 3 pm; 4 pm - 7 pm
This change of schedule will be posted on the Village website, transmitted via our WENS
system, emails, flyers and social media outreach. Additionally, all registered users will receive
individual notification through Freebee.
