HomeMy Public PortalAbout20081201 premeetingCOUNCIL WORK SESSION DECEMBER 1, 2008 CALL TO ORDER 1 The December 1, 2008, "Pre- Meeting" Work Session was convened at 5:30 P.M. by Mayor John Landwehr. The earlier starting time was due to the fact that no Brown Bag meeting was held on Friday, November 28, a City holiday. ATTENDANCE The following Council Members were present: Present: Carroll, Ferguson, Harvey, Koon, Klindt, Layton, Medin, Penfold, and Scrivner Absent: Randolph A quorum was present. DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS Appointments: Mayor John Landwehr said that Cole County has asked for the City to appoint two members to a 20- member ambulance service preliminary study group. He has asked Fire Chief Robert Rennick and Councilman Dan Klindt to represent the City in that capacity and that they have agreed to do so. Presentations from Staff, Consultant and Invited Guests: Assistant to the City Administrator Melva Fastwill make a presentation regarding the Old Munichberg decorative signs. Agenda amendments: Mayor John Landwehr explained the changes which have been made to the order of items appearing on the agenda pertaining to presentations from the gallery. 2008 -98 (parking on Southwest Blvd.) - Councilman Jim Penfold stated he will request suspension of the rules on this to allow the project to move forward due to the approach of the winter weather season. 2008 -72 (Minimum Fines): Councilman Mike Harvey will remove this bill from the Informal Calendar to be voted on. New Business: Councilman Ron Medin stated he would like to have a discussion regarding how the City Council and County Commission can work together on mutual projects. COUNCIL WORK SESSION DECEMBER 1, 2008 2 Consent Agenda: Councilman Bob Scrivner pointed out a typographical error in the November 14 Brown Bag minutes. The City Clerk will correct that error and distribute the corrected version to the Council in the December 5 off -week packets. The meeting adjourned at 5:55 P.M.
