Subject: Bal Harbour Tourism Department Monthly Resort Tax Revenue Report for
August 2022
The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to transmit to you the Monthly Tourism Resort Tax
Revenue Report from the Bal Harbour Tourism Department to provide you with an update on Resort
Tax Collections in the Village.
The attached report reflects all resort tax revenue collected from the Lodging (4%) and Food &
Beverage (2%) entities by the Village throughout the month of August 2022 from a report generated
directly from our financial management system. The report compares results to previous years and
includes FY 2020-2022 monthly results and variances. .
The results for August FY 2022 and YTD with comparative to August FY 2021 and YTD, and August
FY 2020 and YTD are as follows:
The August 2022 results of $312,453 is $37,257 or 14% greater than the August 2021 result and is a
Village record for August collections, surpassing the previous record in August 2019 of $281,542
during our pre-COVID all-time record year. Compared with August 2020, the fifth full month effect
of the COVID 19 Pandemic, the result is $205,644 or 193% higher. The October - August results of
$5,720,325 continue to set an all-time record, $1,149,380 or 25% higher than October – August FY
2021 and $3,045,262 or 114% higher than October – August FY 2020.
