Gonzalez, Village Manager October 21, 2022 )VIAC— Date: Subject: New Season of Events in Bal Harbour Village The purpose of this Letter to Council (LTC) is to provide you with an overview of our upcoming calendar of events as we launch a new season. Through the Recreation, Arts & Culture Department, we plan to host a variety of events throughout the year. Details about each of the following events will be shared with you once the details are finalized: • Movie Nights - we are planning six events forthe season, including the first, which was held last Saturday, October 15. Featured films will be geared both towards families with children, as well as adults and seniors. Each event will include refreshments, as well as themed activities prior to the start of the movie. The next movie night is scheduled for Thursday, December 29, and then monthly through the season. • Concerts - we are planning musical concerts, to include a variety of music, such as the South Florida Symphony Orchestra (SFSO), as well as other local South Florida musical ensembles. Our first concert of the season will be Sunday, October 30, from 5 - 6:30 PM, at the beach by the jetty, where attendees will enjoy a preview of the SFSO's 2022/2023 season. • UnscriptedBal Harbour Art Access Program - we have expanded our museum partnerships for the 2022/2023 fiscal year, to include additional partners such as Rubell Museum and the Jewish Museum of Florida. We also replaced the Frost Museum of Science with another local and well-known institution, the Museum of Discovery & Science in Fort Lauderdale. The partnership with the Museum of Discovery & Science provides free admission to every Art Access cardholder (plus a guest) for every visit throughout the year, as well as admission to one IMAX documentary film per visit. • Unscripted Bal Harbour Art Tours - we will be hosting monthly tours at local institutions throughout South Florida, to provide complimentary guided museum tours to Bal Harbour residents and guests. We kicked off the season with a private guided tour of the Rubell Museum in October, and will continue next month with a guided tour of the private home collection of Rosa and Carlos de la Cruz, on November 9. • UnscriptedBal HarbourArt Chats - we are planning quarterly Art Chats throughout the year, and began the season with landscape architect, Raymond Jungles, at Bal Harbour Shops Bespoke event. The series will continue next month, in partnership with the Miami Book Fair, BAL HARBOUR �TAEW MCCN to host an Art Chat with Israeli architect and author, Moshe Safdie on Sunday, November 20t". Attendees will also have access to other Book Fair events that weekend. Ice Skating for the holidays -The Village is partnering with BaI Harbour Shops to host an ice skating rink in the Center Courtyard of the shops, from November 17tf'thru November 22nd Ice Skating equipment will be provided, and skating will be available for residents and visitors, through a reservation system. • Holiday Lighting Ceremony- our annual holiday lighting ceremony is scheduled for Monday, November 21, from 7 - 9 PM, at Founders Circle. The event will include musical entertainment, as well as refreshments, and our own version of snow as we light up Bal Harbour to kick off the holiday season.
