COMMISSION MEETING - HELD : April 9, 1960

The minutes of the commission me3tingsheld on March 15, 1960
were regd, approved & adopted.
J.R.Fountain reported bank balance as of March 31, 1960 as follows:
WATER FUND 121730.0$
GENERAL FUND 16;964.22
RESERVE DEPRECIATION FUND 2,630.94
RESERVE DEPRECIATION SAVINGS (C.D.) $1000.00
PAYMENTS DURING MARCH, 1960:
From Water Fund - on checks 230- 233 - totaled 742.65
From General " - " 1131 - 1170 " 4021.80
All of the above payments were unanimously approved.
The petition from Major Colhoun requesting the installation of
a light on the pole at the corner of Oleander Way and Lake View Dr.
was read. The Commissioners unanimously approved the placing of
.a s#teet light at this point. J.R.Fountain said he would notify
Fla. Power & Light Co. and have them install this Tight.
A Petition signed by Mr. W.C. Johnston and Mr. A.B.Orthwein
was read. The Petition requested the abandonment of Pandanus Road
from the northern terminus of Oleander Way to Gulf Syream Road. The
Town Commissioners voted unanimously to vacate and abandon the
portion of Pandanus Road mentioned above.
The letters from Mr. T.T.Speer and Murphy Const. Co. were read.
These letters concerned the request for erection of groynes of 70
feet lengthat Mr. Speer's beach property. J.Raleigh Fountain was
instructed to answer these letters and explain th.t the Town has
agreed to follow the recommendation of the County Commissioners
in matters regarding groynes.
The Police and water reports were read. Mayor Lindsay stated that
no definite word had been received from Mrs. Howard Phipps regarding
the deeding of 15 feet of right away on Sea Foad to the Town.
Mayor Lindsay reported that Mr. Phillip Moreno, D.B.A. County
Sanitation Company, has agreed to sign a contract for the pick of
garbage, with the same service and arangements as in the past,
with the execption that there would be no escalator clause for
added charges for additional new buildings, at a yearly fee of
$ 4,200.00. The contract to extend for a period of five (5) years.
The commissioners unamiously agreed to accept the contract. Mayor
Lindsay said that the contract should be ready for signing at
the first commission meeting in May, 1960.

Mayor Lindsay reported that several home owners on the
south end of town have complained of insufficient water pressure.
It seems that the worst times are from 9:00 A.M. until about
4 P.M. each day. The Commissioners unanimously agreed to
hold a Special Commission Meeting on Friday, April 15, 1960.
The Commissioners asked Raleigh Fountain to have all the
necessary information ready for this meeting.
The Budget for the Fiscal Year October 1, 1960 though
September 30, 1961 was studied by each of the commissionersy
and accepted unanimously with the understanding that changes
could be made up to and including the August 13, 1960
meeting.
Mayor Lindsay read a letter which was received a year or
so ago from the County Commissioners regarding the plans for
widening AlA through Gulf Stream. Mr. Iglehart said that it
might be wise for the Town to pass an ordinance requiring
a set back of 78 feet from the center of AlA to protect the
people who t -,ish to build before AlA is widened. Raleigh Fountain
said that he would contact Mr. Lilienthal and have him draft
the proper ordinance.
Mayor Lindsay read the resignation of J.Raleigh Fountain
as Deputy Town Clerk, Municipal Judge, Tax Collector, Tax
Assessor and Building Inspector. The Commissioners expressed
their gratitude to Mr. Fountain for his work in behalf of the
pepple of Gulf Stream for the past 5 years. Raleigh Fountain
thanked each of the Commissioners for their help, cooperation,
forbearance and understanding . Mr. Fountain said that he
regretted leaving such a nice position and such fine people.
There being no futher business the Commissioners adjourned.

TO THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM:
Th'e undersigned property owners, owning all lands
abutting on Pandanus Road from the northern end of Oleander
Way westerly to its intersection with Gulf Stream Road, as
shown on Map of the Town of Gulf Stream, dated July 1949,
compiled by George S. Brockway, do hereby respectfully
petition the Town Commission to vacate and abandon that
portion of Pandanus Road mentioned above.
