HomeMy Public PortalAbout2020.01.08 GAC Minutes McCall Golf Advisory Meeting Minutes, January 8, 2020 Roll Call: Eric McCormick, Ken Stearns, Kara Jeffus, Kris Christensen, Allan Morrison, Suzanne Gephards (late), Rita Bolli-Neal (via Phone) Absent: Michael Hayes,Todd McKenna Public Comment: None Approval of Minutes for December 11, 2019 meeting: Motion made by Ken and seconded by Kara. Motion carried. Sign Minutes: Rita signed the minutes later in January. Eric's Report: Plenty of snow to keep the staff busy. Greens are covered but are doing well. May Security has installed cameras one replaces Aspen#1 and Birch #3 tees, new cameras at the driving range, Cedar#1 tees,front steps of the clubhouse/parking lot and west steps/practice putting green. Monitor in the clubhouse will have a split screen, record data and include a speaker to the driving range. Plus Eric's report to city council was submitted. Allan's Report: No income over the last month however people are signing up for 2020 tournaments. He is reaching out to Brad Storman for discussions on his contract assignment. From our last month's meeting we should consider adding a plus-one to the staff and city's free gold program.The current arrangement is not being abused. This change will require a public hearing. Item was tabled for discussion in the future. Monthly Topic: Mission Statement—We want the overall message to state that McCall golf course is a "must play course"while still being affordable. Topic was tabled until next meeting allowing all members to review various versions. Kara stressed that "long term thinking" should be considered while creating a mission statement. Old Business: Fees for 2020 have not been recommended to council yet. Jug Mountain is planning to raise theirs by 3% plus round up. Eric is preparing a spreadsheet to compare rates of area courses. Also we should consider that Meadow Creek and Jug have a 6%tax while McCall has a 7%tax rate. Pro Contract: Score cards need to be corrected where most of the misinformation includes the combo tees. Still need a designated smoking area. The Pro is require to be involved in the marketing efforts. Allan feels the tournaments give good exposure for our course and Eric controls the marketing budget. Kids programs and free clinics area.plus and the tournaments have waiting lists. It is recommended we "step up" our social media exposure and utilize the calendar on the web site. Eric submitted his annual report prior to the City employee retreat. Master Plan: Meeting with the past superintendents in Boise has not been scheduled yet. More discussion on cameras/monitor/speaker was held. Michael of Banyan's has inside cameras to monitor activity in the bar/restaurant. 1� ti Entrance Sign:The estimated cost is$5000 with Eric's budget contributing$1000 and both the MLGA and Banyan's have agreed to contribute. Need the balance to get it ordered and installed. The design was approved by the city in March 2019 New Business: Kris and Rita want to enter the Winter Carnival parade. Eric's staff will support the effort and Eric has beads and golf balls.
