Met with Hubert Walch to discuss catering agreement and transitional concerns. 2. Attended Mayor Pro T2m Press Conference. 3. Met with Lieutenant Handley to dicuss gang problem in city parks. 4. Organized and attended introductory mixers at Bateman Hall. 5. Attended Senior Citizen Open House. 6. Received Girl Scout House Keys. 7. Served as guest speaker at Rotary Club. � 8. Attended Computer Training Session. • � I 9. Met with Long Beach School District regarding meals program. i 10. Attended Youth Commission meeting. I 11. Completed swim session III. 7. Planned and organized winter activity schedule. 8. Conducted special event swim for students of cancelled session III swim lessons. PARKS: 1. Annual flowers planted at City Hall and Bateman Hall. 2. Trimmed trees at City Hall and City Aall Annex. 3. Various small sprinklers were repaired at City Hall, Annex and Bateman Hall. 4. Sprinklers were installed around Art House at Ham Park. 5. Twenty trees trimmed at Ham Park. � 6. Re-installed six Merry Go Rounds in Ham Park. 7. Five tier bleachers were repaired at Ham Park. 8. Painted shuffleboard area in City Park. 9. Repaired ten picnic tables. 10. Replaced two Rocking Ponies in Children's Play Area. 11. Installed six Merry Go Rounds in center play area of City Park. 12. Began maintenance schedule at Girl Scout House. 13. Repaired picnic table at Lindbergh Park that were damaged by vandals. 14. Installed lockable concrete valve boxes at Lindbergh Park. Personnel - The custodian resigned this month and interviews are scheduled for next Tuesday, using applicants from the eligibility list, for the selection of two custodians. CURRENT PROGRAM REPORT by Jim Given The softball and baseball programs have been completed with the gril's season ending on August 17th. The Girl's Softball Banquet will be held at 6:00 p.m. at Bateman Hall on Wednesday, August 23rd. Boys baseball, junior and senior leagues has just ended and a pizza party has been scheduled instead of a banquet. Domino's Pizza is donating all refreshments for the pizza party. Registration is now being taken for Drill Team which is scheduled,to start October 2. Girls Powder Puff and Basketball Camp are now being offered. Boys Flag Football registration is underway with a deadline date of October 6th. Training for Flag Football officials is being conducted tonight and tomorrow night at Bateman Hall. Recruiting for voluntary football coaches is now in process. The Girl Scout House, ` which has been donated to Recreation & Parks is being prepared to handle the Teen Program as a Teen Center. Day Camp is finishing up with Session III. There are discount Magic Mountain tickets sale with a bus trip scheduled for September � 2nd. There was a good representation of clubs and businesses. UNITY FESTIVAL by Jim Given ' Jim Given gave a generaL overview of the upcoming Lynwood International Unity Festival. The professional carnival, Butler Amusement will operate Thursday through Monday. The department's activities will be held Sunday, September 3rd and Monday, - September 4th from 2-7 p.m. on both days. Eleven (ll) booths have been confirmed with a number of items and a variety of food. The last day for reservations for vendors and performers is August 25th.
