Dear Community Leader: CITY MANAGERS
OFFICE
I am writing to introduce the "Were You Counted" campaign for
the 1990 Census in California. Scheduled to run from Monday,
June 25th tticough Friday, July 27th, it will provide California
cesidents one last chance to be counted.
Enclosed are several reproducible copies of the "Were You
Counted" form and suggested ways that community organizations
such as yours, city and county governments, and the print and
electronic media can assist in making the "Were You Counted"
program known to the public. We are of course also providing
forms and the list of suggestions to local governments and the
media, and are issuing press releases to announce the start of
the campaign.
You can help, as our suggestions indicate, by letting your
service population know about the campaign.
If anyone you know of feels that he or she or his or her family
has not been counted on the 1990 Census, please have them
complete a photocopy of the "Were You Counted" form and mail it
to California's San Diego Processing Center. We will search
our records of those who have been counted and will add the
names of any persons found to have been missed.
If your organization has a newsletter or some other form of
publication, please consider printing a copy of the "Were You
Counted" form in that document.
Thank you for your help.
Sincerely
