IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF THE CITY HALL, 11330 BULLIS , ROAD, CITY OF LYNWOOD, CALIFORNIA I � . � � COMMUNITY ACCESS ADVISORY BOARD Minutes for the Meeting of May 22, 1990 The regular meeting of the Community Access Advisory Board of the City of Lynwood, California was held on May 22, 1990 in the Council Chambers of the City Hall (The agenda was duly posted as prescribed by the Brown Act). Chairperson Mary Wright called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. Members in attendance were Mary Wright, Bill Cunningham, Ada McZeal and Rev. C. C. Coleman. Excused was Ann Fields. Staff present were Roy Bufanda, Carol de Jesus and Jim Given. SCHEDULED MATTERS STATUS REPORT ON LYNWOOD SHOWCASE: Mr. Jim Given updated the board members with the following information on the Lynwood Showcase: -Staff is currently videotaping the Anti-Graffiti Program as requested by the City Council. The video will be shown to the board members on Friday, June 1 at 9 a.m. -The third segment of the Lynwood Showcase video will be ready for the board members to view by next Friday, June 8, 1990. -Staff has contacted St. Erancis Hospital for the next video show; Ana Rose Schneider, public relations personnel for St. Francis told staff that the hospital is not in a position at this point to show any videos that could be aired publicly. Primarily, they do not have an educational department and any pre-taped information; staff of St. Francis could not locate the whereabouts of any related materials; Mr. Givens and his staff will be working with Ms. Schneider, the liaison officer for St. Francis, to plan out the different topics for future shows. -Staff has done a videotape on the basketball team of the Lynwood High School; since it was difficult to get hold of Linda Watson, the lady basketball star player of the school, the staff decided to do a generalized information topic on basketball. -soon after the video of the anti-graffiti program is done, i staff will be shooting pieces of program and create an archive i for showcase future use. AGn::Di1 ITu:i � Y I � � � -the next video segment will feature the Lynwood High School Performing Arts, Ms. Lynwood and her Court and the Lynwood Senior Citizen Program. The Community Board will announce the upcoming segment on the Youth Merit Awards, Earthquake Preparedness Program, and the Basketball Program at Lynwood High. -a Job Faire will be held on May 20, 1990 from 2:30 - 5:00 pm at Bateman Hall. -The Lynwood Gang Video (a joint project of the Sheriff's Department and the City of Lynwood and produced by the Continental Cablesystem), received another special award. -A lady by the name of Sparkle will replace Ms. Selby who recently quit as host for the Lynwood Showcase. Sparkle is a resident of Lynwood and is temporarily helping Mr. Givens and his staff. The board members reminded Mr. Given about the deadline for open recruitment for the position of Lynwood Showcase host. OTHER BUSINESS Reverend C. C. Coleman mentioned that not enough information is being.circulated to the public such as announcement of activities available for the youth. The newspapers do not feature ample news on Lynwood that can be disseminated to the public. He recommends that the city needs a media that could do the function of generating better communication. Reverend Coleman announced that he would not be able to attend the June and July board meetings. Board member Ada McZeal requested for a copy of the cable tv franchise agreement.
