REGULAR MEETING OF THE COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COMMISSION JANUARY 17, 1990 The Community Affairs Commission met in a regular session on January 17, 1990 at the Council Chambers of the City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road, Lynwood California (Agenda was duly posted as prescribed by the Brown Act). Commissioner Litsinger called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Present Excused � Bette Espeseth Yolanda Bays Ann Fields David Litsinger ! Marion Madden Barbara Newton ; Lucille Walker - � Staff present: Carol de Jesus, Rosemary Valdovinos and Roger � Haley. BUSINESS ITEMS: 1. PRESS RELEASE ON EARTHQUAKE PREPAREDNESS � Rosemary Valdovinos did a press release on Earthquake ; Preparedness for Commissioners' approval. Attached is a corrected and approved copy of the press release. 2. DISTRIBUTION OF INFORMATIONAL MATERIAL ON EARTHQUAKE PREPAREDNESS FOLLOWED. 3. COMMISSION ORALS � a. David Litsinger inquired about the status of the Sister City Program. He wanted to discuss the actual � procedure to_formalize the program next meeting.' , � I ! � .. .. . . , 4. ' � • .. �r � b. Ann Fields has tracked down the address of the owner of the abandoned house in Virginia. The owners are now in San Jose. , c. Barbara Newton inquired if it is illegal to park on the front of the lawn. Rosemary Valdovinos indicated that there is an ordinance relative to the prohibition of ' parking in certain areas. However, she will confirm with Code Enforcement and will get back to the commissioners. d. Betty Espeseth posed the following questions: 1. How long will the medfly spraying last? 2. Why does the city want to buy the bowling alley? 3. Why is the City donating a cannon to a museum and not ' leave it in Lynwood? 4. There is a delivery truck on North Main that delivers cheese, yogurt, tortilla etc. For health purposes, she would like staff to find out if the person has a sales permit. e. Be prepared, make a family earthquake plan.
