Jesse was not retained as City Meehani~. The Minutes were approved as amended. Acommunication was received from Thomas xuinn of L. B. makibg Application to maintain a dog kennel and pet shop on L. B. Blvd. close to Carlin Avenue. This matter was referred to Chief df Police Ries for investigation. A communication was received from Lynwood Elementary School by C.F.~ ~~ercer, Dist. Supt. requesting a refund of weed sssessemsnt,~on i4 Lots in Block 2, MQd3eska Park, in the total' amount of ~I8.34. is matter was referred to the City Clerk~~to check up to ascertain whe~;her or not the the west"is ~rar~.cleaned by the ~Y9ed D ar~Gm n$. The resignation of Areh G. ~icZay as City Po ~~e au~ge of the City ©~ Lynwood, was read. It was moved by Councilman Anderson and seconded by Counoi].man Skelton that the resign«tion be accepted. Thereupon the City Clerk administered the oath of office to C. E. Day as Polio® fudge. Mr. C. E. Day stated that Court would be held at Io'o'clock A. M. on ~lednesday of each week and instructed ChiecP of Police RiQe to have all Citations designate said date to appear. A communication was received from Almina R. Sheets, 354'7 r.~ulford Avenue regarding the bad condition of Muli`ord Avenue. Councilman Tweedy stated that he would see that same is taken care of as soon as p©ssible. A communication was received from Chas C. Reed Treasure regarding appropriation from the General Fund as a loan to A. & I. 24 in the amount of w~l.'7®®.00 to t~;take care of principal and interest maturing duly 2nd, I930. Therupon it was moved by Councilman Anderson and seconded by Councilman Skelton that a transfer be made from the General Fund to A. 8~ I. District 24 in the amount of ~I,'700.00 as loans to said fund for the purpose of pa~riz~g pri~tcipal and interest due on said bonds on July 2nd, I930. Roll call; Ayes; Councilmen Skelton, Tweedy, Anderson and Snodgrass. Noes. None. Not voting; Councilman Kimble. An invitation teas received from the Board of Trustees of the Public Library of Redondo Beach to attend the opening of the new Library at said on July 2nd. It was moved by Councilman Skelton and seconded by Couneil- man,Tweedy that the invitation be accepted and ~tug''-that can attend take advantage of the invitation. A report was reoeived from the Chief of Police Riee s~}owing the acativities of the Police Department for the month of dune, I930, the amount of money collected, being X2495.00. It was moved by Councilman .' `i`a-sedy and seconded by Councilman Anderson that the report be accepted and ordered placed on file. Motion was carried and so ordered. The following applications for employment were received:. Bernardine Freer, applying for position air Stenographer and Ted. Mc~dahan applying for position on the Police Department. There being no objections the Mayor ordered same placed on file. J~ ORAL C©T,~duNICATIONS car. A. B. Gray addressed the Council regarding the Fireworks Ordinance. 1VIr. Willis Fuller addressed the Courie~l regarding the deeding ®f a strip at the corner of School Street and Josephine Avenue for road purposes stating he had interviedved the President of the Board of Schools in Lynwood, regarding this matter and it was favorable to the Board. Engineer Bateman stated that he would get in touch with~the County Counsel to ascertain if a deed would be satisfactory for said purpose, and if so, he will draw up a deed to-cover same. Councilman Kimble reported regarding the dam at Los Angeles Flood Contro south of Stewartand Grey Road 3.n South Gate stating that they have not j zappeared before the Board of Supervisors as yet, as some of the Board of .' ~. ,' Supervisors have been out of town. r Councilmen Kimble and Tweedy reported regarding the ehangzng of Street names in the City o~ Lynwood stating that nothing has been donex as yet. Ordinan.ae regulating the burning of rubbish, paper, shavings, boxes or other combustible material-within the City of Lynwood, wa readfor the first time. It was moved by Councilman Skelton and seconded by Councilman Anderson that said Ordinance be accepted as read first time and passed to the second reading. Councilmen, Skelton, Tweedy, Anderson, Kimble & Snodgras s . Noes. None. Councilman Kimble stated that the State Fire Underwriters suggested that the City of Lynwood should bave 6 to 8 paid fireman according to tie present population to conform to re quirements .Councilman Kimble recommended that two firemen be employed at this time. Fire Chte~ Roberts also addressed the Council regarding this matter. This matter was acid offer to the nest meeting. The hour of 8;00 O'clock having arrived, said time being the hour fixed for hearing protests of objections to the work done and the assements there for in the matter of Imperial Highway Lights as described in Resolutions of Intention No688. The I~layor asked the Cit~r Clerk if any written protests or objections had been filed. The Clerk stated none had been f' le The Mayor then inquired if there w~ree any oral o~3eetions os'protests relative to the work or to the assessment therefor. There was no response. Thereupon Resolution N0.7i7, entitled " .RESOLUTION CONFIRR~:ING PROCEED INGS AND ORDE:~ING oaARRANT" , was read. The Clerk stated that no written protests or objections has been filed. The Mayor then inquired if there were any oral objections or protests relative to said matter. There was no response. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Skelton and seconded by Councilman Anderson that th.e report and amended assessments be confirmed and the Clerk be instructed tQ, file said amended aseessements with the Auditor previous to the ISth day of Tuly, I930. Beymer, also stated that acting Building Inspector F~illard Johnson ~s sick and 4'Jilliam CAllins is now aetixig as Building Inspector. Thereupon it was moved by Counculman Skelton and seconded by Councilman Tweedy that the resignation of ~'d. J. B$ymer as building inspector be accepted ~~otion carried and so ordered. It .was moved by Councilman Kimble and seconded by Council Skelton that 4'~illiams Collins be employed as temporary Building Inspector.
