HomeMy Public PortalAboutM 1930-07-30 - CC~~~ ADJOURNED REGULAR I,~ETIS'G ~'ULY 30th, 1930 The City Council of the City of Lyn~ood met in an adjoured regular session at the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, onabove date at 7:30 p. M. for the purpose of discussing certain contested awards by certain defendants for the acquiring of parcels of land for the widening of Tweedy and Abbott Road, now known as Century Boulevard; being in the matter of Acquisition and Improvement District No. 18 of the City of Lynwood; Case No. 283379 in the Superior Court of the State of California, enticed: `tCity of Zynwood vs. Z. C . Ackley, et al . r` Mayor Snodgrass ir_ the chair. Councilmen Tweedy, Anderson, Kimble and Snodgrass were present. Councilman Skelton was absent. It was moved by Councilman Anderson and seconded by Councilman Tweedy that the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with. Lotion was carried and so ordered. ~'onsiderable discussion was then had regarding the awards in said matter and the following contestants were present and addressed the Council regarding same: Messrs. L. B. Stanton,z•ouis Swaintek, Ilemry Doebler and Mrs. Zora Bray. It was moved by Councilman 1-Anderson and seconded by Councilman Tweedy that Special Attorney Crouch be authorized to attempt settle- ment in the matter of the condemnation suit for the widening of said Century Boulevard at figures for the following defendants not exceed- ing the following amounts over and above the appraisal in the Affida- vit to take immediate possession: I,. Absent: Couneilm n Skelton. ' It was moved by ~ouneilman Tweedy and seconded by Councilman Anderson that we employ T4~r. A. -~. Young and H. E. 7eiser as witness in the eond?emnation suit for the widening of Century Boulevard at 50.00 per day, in case of a jury trial, and that the compensation of ~'jr. Roy E. Day as a witness at ~:he Court trial be fixed at X50.00 per day, all for actual appearance in Court. Roll Call: Ares : Councilmen `i'~rreedy, Anderson, Kimble and Snod=~;rass. Noes: None.
