AWARDING BID FOR DOWNTOWN BUSINESS
DISTRICT PAREING INIPROVEMENT—
NUSCELLANEOUS TRAFFIC STRIPING PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the Borough has publicly advertised for the receipt of bids for the Downtown Business
District Parking Improvement- Miscellaneous Traffic Striping Project, and
WHEREAS, the Borough has solicited and received two (2) bid proposals for the Downtown Business
District Parking Improvement- Miscellaneous Traffic Striping Project as follows:

1. Straight Edge Striping, LLC $ 23.305.00
2. Traffic Lines, Inc. S29 830.0 0
WHEREAS, Straight Edge Striping, LLC., has submitted the lowest bid for said contract as evidenced
by the response on file with the Borough's Purchasing Department and with the Borough Engineer, and
WHEREAS, the Borough Engineer has reviewed the above bid proposals and has recommended the
award of a contract to Straight Edge Striping, LLC, in a total amount not to exceed $23,305.00; and
WHEREAS, the Chief Financial Officer has certified that funds are or will be available for said purpose.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret as
follows:
1. That the appropriate Borough Officials are hereby authorized to enter into a contract with
Straight Edge Striping, LLC of Bound Brook, N.J. for the Downtown Business District
Parking Improvement- Miscellaneous Traffic Striping Project for the sum of $23,305.00 in
accordance in all respects with the request for proposals and bid on same.
2. That a copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded to the Borough's Purchasing Department
and Borough Engineer.
3. That the aforementioned award of bid is contingent upon formal approval from the New
Jersey Department of Labor, Division of Wage and Hour Compliance.

Dear Mayor Borough Council:
Please be advised that our office is in receipt of the following quotations, received on
April 28, 2011, for the above- mentioned project:

1. Straight Edge Striping, LLC ............................ ............................... $23,305.00
2. Traffic Lines, Inc ............................................. ............................... $29,830.00
The apparent low quotation was submitted by Straight Edge Striping, LLC of Bound
Brook, NJ in the amount of $23,305.00. The Engineer's Estimate for the project was
$27,820.00.
Price quotes were also requested from Zone Striping, Inc. of Glassboro, New Jersey
and Lombardi Striping Corporation of South Plainfield, New Jersey; however they did
not submit a bid.
Accordingly, we recommend award of the project to Straight Edge Striping, LLC of
Bound Brook, NJ, subject to certification of funds by the Chief Financial Officer and
review and approval by the Borough Attorney.
By copy of this letter, we are also requesting the Borough Attorney prepare the
necessary Resolution of Award. Upon execution, please have four (4) signed and
sealed copies of the resolution forwarded to my office for further execution.
