Ma~7or Snodgrass in the chair. Councilmen ruilliams, Tweedy, Anderson, Kimble s.nd. Snodgrass ansvuered the roll cell. Cit3 Attorney Hess and Engineer Bateman ~~~ere present. The minutes of the previous adjourned regular meeting of Octo- ber 14th, were read and approved. ~ui~Rl TAN co~~tUNIC~TIONS : A common cation was received from W. Z. Y~oadruff, Photographic Fingerprint Expert of the Long Beach Police Department addressed to Chief of Pollee Hogan complimenting I~Sr. J. Bennett for his splendid ~rork is his photography and fingerprint work. A communication was received from City Treasurer Reed calling attention of the Council that after operating under the new budget for three months it appears that the revenue for the fiscal year will not be as great as anticipated and therefore cautioning the Council to ad- here to a policy of strict economy. - There being no objections, thei~ayor ordered said communications placed on file. - - - A communication was received from Supt. of lights Charles ~. Cummings calling attention of the ~'ouncil to several broken globes on or- namental standards on Century Boulevard which have been broken with stones thrown by children. No action was taken and the ~?ayor ordered said com- munication placed on file. 0 RAZ CO I+I~DNICATIONS ; . A. Gray addressed the Council relative to a tax bill he had received covering the portion of his lot that has been condemned for the widening of Imperial Highway, stating that he aid not feel that he should pay same as' long as it is now a street. ~Ir. Gray also stated that the unpaid taxes on the portion now contained in the street shows a cloud on the title. City Treasurer Reed addressed the Council and stated that the reason th at this matter has not been cleared up before is because Final Judgment had not been filed until just recently which was due to certain contested awards on account of interest payments and the proceedings had to be re-opened. fir. need assured Mr. Gray that in the very near future proper adjustment will be made with the property owners along Imperial Highway relative to this tag proposition. City Attorney Hess also addressed the Council and explained at length the re- sult of taxing the portion that is now being used for Street purposes. fir. E. A. Brown addressed the council regarding a weed assess- ment he ela.ims was erroneously charged in his tax bill for 1929-30 on Lots 118, 119 and 120, Tract 5975, and which he has inquired about same several times but up to date has not received a suitable reply; also ddressed the Council relative to his tag statement for year 1930-31. ity Attorney Hess stated for the Council that TJr. Brown should get in touch with Engineer Batement regarding the width of Tweedy and Abbott Road, and that he should put his complaint in writing regarding the weed assessment and tax statement. ter. ~. B. Selig, representing the Southern California Edison Co. addressed the Council relative to a Grant of Easement said Company desires from the City of Lynwood on certain tracts in the City of Lynwood. Zt was moved by Councilman Tweedy and seconded by Councilman Anderson that said Re- solution Ivro. 748 be adopted. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen V'dilliams, Tweedy,Anderson,Kimble and Snodgrass. Chief of Police Hogan addressed the Council stating that the present ordinance regarding boulevards was not suffioient in that it did not include the corner of State Street and Tweedy Road and re- quested that same be added. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Tweedy and seconded by Councilman Anderson that the City Attorney be instructed to draw up an amendment to the Boulev~.rd stop sign ordinance by providing a boulevard stop on State Street at Tweedy Road. Noes: None, The ~~7ayor instructed Councilman Anderson and City Clerk And- erson to look into the matter of purchashing a typewriter for the Judge's office. Cit; Treasurer Reed addressed the Council stating that he had checked up the telephone bills for the last past months and he believed it would ba a considerable saving to the City to install direct service to Los Angeles, which would cost21.50 per month, minimum of 300 calls, and a service booth placed near the Police Department which he stated the Southern California 't'elephone Company would allow the Cit;; 15 per cent of Bros; receipts on. Thereupon it was_,moved by Councilman Kimble a.nd seconded by Oaunc ilman ~Alilliams that the Los Angeles Telephone Trunk line be instal led; also that a pay service telephone be installed in the Police De- partment for use by other than Cit`, Employees .
