Councilman ~~illiams addressed the Council suggesting that an appropriation be made in the; amount of ~l, 000.00 or Cpl, 500.00 to provide work for man residing in Lynwood who need work during the depressed conditions, stating that no doubt several men could be employed by the Street Department and some by the '~Jater Department. eater superintendent Cummings addressed the Council suggesting that soma men could be employed to paint lighting standards in the Citthat need painting. Councilman Tweedy stated that he had thought along the same line as Councilmas ~Vil- Hams and was planning on presenting it to the Council for consideration. Thereupon it vraffi moved by Councilman y`~illiams and s e c ande d by Councilman Anderson that the heads of the various Departments of the City, with the sanction of the Council, be authorized to employ additional help to help in their respective Department, during depressed conditions, to an amount not to exeeed X1,000.00. Fenton, representing the ',`Wailes Dove-Hermiston tlor- po~ation addressed the Council relative to applying an interior coating of Bitumastic enamel material on the Cite water tanks, stating that the approximate cost of coating one well vrould be from x'225.00 to x'.250.00. The Mayer appointed Councilman ~`dilliams sand ~.Vater Superintendent Cummings a committee to investigate-the matter more thoroughl~T. Councilman Y..imble addressed the council stating that the type- . writer on trial in the Building Department, costing ~4C .00, has proved satisfactory. Thereupon it was moved b~, Councilman Anderson and seconded by Councilman ~iilliams that the typewriter be purchased for use in the Build- ing Department. Councilman Kimble addressed the Council reporting on the matter of adequate drainage along Fernwood Avenue under the Pacific Electric tracks at Fir Stre ~t , Gertrude give and Thi~r d avenue , stating that Sup- ervisor Quinn had been out of town, stating further that she had now been informed that it does not come under the Supervisors' control, but under the flood control, and that should the supervisors grant the expenditure for said drains, immediately 26 other communities would make like requests Mrs . Kimble stated that Mr. ~.'hatohcr takes his chair as a member of the board of Supervisors L~anday and that she willundoubtedl~7 have something more definite t o report at the next meeting of the Council . ~y~ater Superintendent Cummings addressed the Council suggesting that the City of Lynwood and the Lynwood Chamber of Commerce ppay half each of the lumber bill contained in the stand on Long Beach Bouleve.rd, aunt to a total of approximately ~~44..00 Thereupon it was moved by Councilman ',~illiams and seconded by Councilman Anderson that the City pay their one-half of the lumbea bill for purchase of the lumber contained in said grand stand.
