The rninut es of the previous adjourned regular meeting of
December 9th ~rere read and approved.

said Board regarding unemployr,~ent situation. `T'here being no oh-

Tract 5975 ~, being for cleaning deeds for year of 1928; also one

402, 403 and 404, Tract 6J57. It was moved by Councilman Anderson
and seconded by ~'~ouncil~^an 'I'~r~edy that 'the ~aeed refunds as prayed
for be allowed, one in the amount of :''.7.44 and the other in the

some action be taken to eliminate the noisy condition caused by
the C.ommereial ~`'elding '='orks, as she cannot keep her property
ren~:ed on Polular Drive on account of the noise at night. TIrs.
TylaeKenzie was informed that the only y~ay she could get aetian

District Attorney's Of~'ice could take it up in the City Court.

matter of adequate drainage along the P. E. R. ~. tra.cks, stating;
that they had a .-~~eetin; `~ith the Board of Supervisors last Fr~-
day rnornin~g _nd they stated the water eorlgestion at these points
was due to the opening and paving of streets and th,t the Board
would take it up ~~,ith the County Counsel as they ~~lave a right to
take it out of the asolisze tax ford to pay for their z~ortion of
the culverts, and that since Friday she had tried to act ix~ touch
with the Board of Supervisors, but they seemed to be in session
and therefor ha.s been unable to do so.

as Chief Hogan was out of town, it was moved by "ouneilman ''3.n.d-

on the table.

City .Attorney Hess reported regarding the bid and contract
of Southern Cali'ornia Edison Co., for furnishing electric energy
to maintain and illuminate certain street lights, 1'or F;ngineer

Thereupon RESOLUTION BTO. 758, entitled: f'RESOLUTTON OF A?~rl'iRD
OF CONTRACT'T, was read. It was moved by Councilman Tti,~eedy and
seconded by Councilman Anderson that said Resolution be adopted.

The matter of suitable ordinance regulating distributing
of advertising matter was brought up for discussion and the
f ollowing addressed the Council regarding same: ~,Ir. Sidney Smith
and Ax. A. B. gray and ~Trs. Haufman. A proposed ordinance eras
read. It was moved by Co~~.neilman Kimble and seconded by Coun~il-
man Williams that the proposed ordinance be filed.

Ayes: Councilmen `":'illiams, Tweedy, Anderson, Thimble and
Snodgrass.
Noes: None:
The i.`ayor instrueed City Attorney Hess to represent the
City and file an answer to tT:e injunction suit by the Compton
Printing Co. vs. City of Lynwood, with no compensation therefor.
A contract was presented for the collection of dog License
fees by State Commission for Protection of Children and t~numals,
a California Corporation. Considerable discussion was had regarding
what percentage the City should pay for the service, and the iayor
instructed tT~~e City CEerk to write the State Commission and ask
teat a representative be present at the next meeting of the Co~~ncil.
City Treasurer Reed addressed the Council regarding payme~
of salaries when pay day falls on a Sunday or Holiday, requesting
that a provision be made authorizin.~; him to pay the day previous.
Thereupon the If,ayor instructed the City Attorney to prepare
an amendment to the salary resolution to provide that ~~hen pay day
falls on a legal holiday or Sunda4~ that the City Treasurer be
authorized to pay the day previous: also to incorporate in said
resolution the provisions contained in Ordinance No. 14~ regarding
vacations, holidays and sick leaves.
The bill for stenographer services in the amount of :53.16,
in the matter of ~"~ ~~: I I3istricts 4 and 6 by Helen Hooper, wG.s
presented by City Attorney Hess stating that same was sent him by
Attorney Tiayne and stating th~~t he did not care to make any reeom-
rnendations. Thereupon it was moved by Councilmans :Williams and
seconded byCouneilman Anderson that the the bill be disa~~~proved.
