Councilmen ~dilliams, Tweedy, Anderson, Kimble and Snodgrass anst°ered the roll call. City Attorney Hess and Engineer Bateman were present. The minutes of the previous adjourned regular meetings of Decem- ber 23rd, 24th and 26th were read. It was moved by ~ouneilman Kimble and seconded by Councilman G~~illiams that the minutes of the 23rd of December be amended to read as follows : "That Mayor Snodgrass made the statement that he had inspected the installation of the taps in the Century Square jraet and knev~r that they are all there". Roll Call: Ayes : Councilmen ~'lilliamd, Kimble and Snodgrass . Does: I4one. But voting: Councilmen Tweedy and Anderson. The minutes were approved as amended. tln aplieation was received from Frank Irangstaff, applying _ ~ for pa~sition as loliee Officer; also report of health services render- ed by the County Health Department, was received. Thereupon it was moved b~* Cou.ncilman 1nderson and seconded by Councilman Kimble that the City Treasurer be instructed to submit said list of taxes collected. 2Jlotior~ was carried and so ordered. 's'he P.iayor inquired of `~ho City Clerk whether or not ~'ie had re- ceived any written protests or objections in said matter. The City Clerk stated that none had been filer.. The ~~iayor then inquired of the audience if there was any one present tivho wished to protest that the work has not been performed according to the contract in a good a.nd substantial manner. There was no response. The ~~.ayor then inquired of the audience if there was any one present who had any protests or objections to offer that any portion of the work for any reason was omitted or illegally ineZuded in the contract for same. There was no response. ~jhe Mayor then inquired of the audience if there was any one present who had any protests or objections to make to the correctness of the assessment or diagram or other act, deterrr:i_nation or proceed- ; ings of the Superintendent of Streets, or City Engineer, There was no response other than ~. 0. Randall who protested stating that the intersecting streets wit'r~ Imperial Highway were not improved ire a proper manner. After Engineer Bateman informed I4~ir. Randall that said -~ portion was not included in the improvement, it was thereupon moved by Councilman Tweedy and seconded by Councilman Anderson that the oral protest of ~l. 0. Randall be overruled. T4ioore to ascertain whether or not h.is bid of ya348.00 is for both tanks, and that tr..e matter be laid over to r'riday at 2:00 ~ . PSI. It was moved by Councilman Williams and seconded by Councilman Kim- ble that same be adopted as read the second time,finally passed and publis- hed as required by law. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen ~rlilliams and Kimble. Noes: Councilmen Tweedy, lnderson and Snodgrass. Ts. J. Ewing, representir~~ the State Commission for Protection of children and_ Animals, a California corporation, addressed the Council re- garding the collection of dog licenses for the ensuing year,~,stating that the lowest possible per cent they can collect same for is 70fo, also stat- ing that they will refund 5jo of last year's collections. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Tvreedy and seconded by Councilman Anderson that the Agreement be accepted on a basis of 700 of all collections to be paid to said corporation, ar_d that the ~~~.yor be authorised to execute the Agreement for and in behalf of the City. Chiefs Roberts stated that he wo_._1d see the Industrial Commi ssion regarding said matter tomorr ow. No action was taken.
