The ~inutas of the ad jaurned regular meeting of Janus ry 19th, 1931 were read and approved. the follotiring applications for employment were received: Samuel R . Linck, Roy R. Bates , :ldward i,7. Ha.nlon, all applying Tor position as Police officer; -illiam D. Poore, s.pplying for position as election officer and rrillis A. Vanca, applying for position as Building jnspeetor. also the report of the county Health Department for the we~Uk ending January 10th, 1931 was received. There being no objection, the ~~ayor ordered said applications and report placed on Bile. Ot~AZ CO~UNICATIONS: rs . 'Y~inn addressed the Council regarding Judge C . ~ . Day. Prs . a~tright addressed the Council for J. F. Baughman complain- ' ing against 2 lights burning on State Street in the 10000 block, stat- ~,~ j ing thst ane light would be sufficient. This matter was referred to ~--° :engineer Bateman for checking . A:r. Herbold addressed the "Council relative to the strip of land rthat lies between California Street and Lot '75, Tract 2'794, seek- ing information what the Cauncil has done regarding same. Kummerfield addressed the Council regarding a notation on her lighting assessment notice that same had been "sold for taxes", stating that she had paid atl previous lighting assessments. The Mayor asked ~:'rs. Summerfeld to see Cite treasurer Reed for explanation regarding said matter. r~s-rs. Goodwin addressed the Council asking that sor:~ething be done to have a steam shovel removed off of a lot on the corner of Norton avenue and California Street . The l~?ayor instructed the Clerk t o get in touch with the owner is an endeavor to have same removed. NEti'd BUSINESS : A•~communoation was received from Lynwood Trapshooting Club asking permission to discharge firearms within the City limits of the City of Lynwood, the location to be on the Bullis Tract south of Lynwood road and east of Alameda Boulevard. The shooting box to be 200 feet south of Lynwood Road ~:.nd 200 feet east of Alameda Boulevard, and tie direction of shooting is to be east, there being no buildings or re side noes tivithin 1500 feet thereof. It was moved by Councilmen Tweedy and seconded b~: Councilman bnderson the,t permission be granted and. the Citd• Attorr~y be instructed to amend the existing ordinanoe which makes it unlawful to discharge firearms within the City to make it lawful to discharge shot guns in the area above de scribed;also that engineer Bateman be instructed to furnish the City Attorney with e. legal description of the area specified in the commuq,ieation and a description of any similar areas in the City. A communication was received from the Union Oil Company of Cali- fornia submittin€r. a bid to furnish gasoline at 16~-~ per gallon net, f. o. b Lynwood. This matter was laid over for one week and Council man Decker was instructed to procure quotations from other oil com- panies. A communication was received from Chas. No action was taken r.nd the Cite; A~ttoraae~~ and Cit;t Clerk were instructed to check same and report at next meeting. The R~a~,or instructed Street Superintendent Porter to check up the demands for weed refunds contained in 1930-31 taxes as to whether or nt they were justly ch~.rged.
