I~rs .Doroth~r bieCaughin, Nrs . Anna Fumphre;= and I~Zrs . Loyd Reber also ad- dressed the Council regarding said matter telling of the needs in Lyn- wood. Thereupon it was moved b~, Councilman Tweedy and seconded by Councilman a~illiams that the tits- appropriate the sum of x;50.00 per month for the purpose of supplying Heady families in the CCity of Lyn- wood with food, clothing and utilities, the amount to be expended upon receipt of bills therefor approved b~~ any one of the follov~ring investigating c omriittee : Mr. Paul Huebner, P~esdames ~~ade Stephens , Doi©thyy i2cCaughin, ~randa `fhibodo, George Grazier, hazel shepherd and Alice Thierer, Gnd transmitted, after approved b„ the Secretary of the Chamber of ommerce , to the Chief of Police . Cummings to the effect that the water pressure is ver~T low in the territory where the ~+ashington School is looated, s o loti~r that the wa- ter will not come out of the drinking foundatins far enough so the children can drink without putting their mouths down to the outlet, and thus making an inst~.nitary condition at said school, suggesting the ap~~~ointment of a committee to tivork on providing adequate water sun- ply for said territory. Thereupon it was moved bar Councilman ~lilliams and seconded b~% Councilman Anderson that a committee be appointed to investigate said matter. 'Notion was carried ~.nd so ordered. 1'he bla~ror appointed Councilman ~Tilliams, Anderson and S~f~ter Superintendent Cummings to act on said committee . A communication was received from the California League of Municipalities, urging the Council's support of Senate Dills Nos. 52 err? 53 and to so notify- the Senator ~.nd Assemblyman. It was moved by Councilman nnderson and seconded b~ Councilman ~~;Pilli~.ms that tY~e City At'~orne~T be ins•~ructed to investigate the conterls of the proposed bills before action is taken. A cnrmnunication was received from Hugh 1~. `i'hatcher, Supervisor of Los Angeles County, to the effect that P~lr. :amble must have misun- derstood his explanation of the matter of appropriation from the Counter to help pay for installing adequate culverts along the Pacific .leetric Railroad tracts, as the Board was unable to make the appropriation on account of it not being legal, there fore the request was denied. The Mayor ordered said commu.nieation fi.7.ed. A communication was received from Itirs. L'mily Johnsen to the effect that Mr. and h2rs. J. L. Johnson never Jere caught drinking li- quor in the business establishment of P.Tr. Johnson in company w~.th Mr. Floyd Richardson, stating that proof of this denial will be readily furnished if requested.
