The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in a regular ses$ion at the City Ha 11, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date, at 7:30 P. M. Mayor Decker in the chair. Councilmen Williams, Davies, Snyder-and Deoker answered the roll call. Councilman Grayson was absent. The minutes of the previous regular meeting of March 15th were read and approved. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS: a ommun eat on was received from Mr.F.A.Lampe requesting to be relieved from the duty of electrical inspector in connection with the radio interference ordinance. Thereupon it was moved b~ Councilman Davies and seconded by Councilman Snyder that the resignation of Mr.Latape be accepted with regrets, and that Building Inspector Collins be appoint- ~d to-fill the vacancy without compensation therefor other than that paid him as Building Inspector. Ro11 Ca11: Ayes: Councilmen Williams, Davies, Snyder and Decker. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Grayson. Communications were received from Mr.Fred L.Jones and MP. C.J.Burns complaining about interference of radio programs caused by electrical appliances used b y a Chiropractor in the vi~~inity of Euclid Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard, requesting that the radio interfere nee ordinance b e enforced. There being no objection, the Mayor referred the complaints to the newly appointed electrical inspeetor,Mr.~ollins, for action, to report back to the Cor~ncil at their next meeting. A communication was received by ~~irs.Virginia Bridges, 3716 Platt Avenue, protesting against certain action of Police Officer Joe Baler, in regard t o ner son Harold, requesting that same be discussed at the meeting tonight. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Davies and seconded b y Councilman Snyder that the Council act as a committe®, as a whole to go into the matter. Dunlap recommending that all fire hose, hydrants, fire engine, or other equip- ment with threaded parts for fire pr oteetive purpose, unless same be fitted and e~.uipped with standard thread, be equipped therewith to con- fi'orm with the State Law, which makes it unlawful for any firm, corpora- tion, etc., to sell or offer for sale any of said equipment without hav- ing the standard threads, stating that there will be no expense other than replacement of nipples in fire hydrants should they be split in expanding. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Davies that we authorized the Fire Chief to proceed with the change as outlined in his communication, and as required by State law, he to exercise every precaution to prevent breaking of nipples,etc. Rol1:Ca11: Ayes: Councilmen Williams, Davies, Snyder and Decker. Mr.H.J.Wertheimer, repre- senting the Civic Progress League of bong '3each, California, inviting the Council to attend a meeting of their organization, when proposed Los Angeles River Flood Control Development will be discussed, said meet- ing to be held on~ Friday,April lst,1932, at 12:30 P.'~~. at the Tops~r Res- taurant in South Gate. There being no objection, the Mayor appointed Councilmen Williams a committee of one to attend. The health report for the week ending March 12th, also for week ending Riarch 19th were received; also an application of Lucy C. Doyle, applying for position as office assist=ant, ana one from Hobert C. Williams,applVin~ for position as Motorcyle Officer. There being no ob~eetion, the sjayor ordered said reports and applications filed. Thereupon it was moved by Council- man Snyder and 'seconded by Councilman Dav ies that the City Attorney be instructed to incorporate said desctiptions into an ordinance. Engineer Bateman reported for the committee consisting of himself and Street Superintendent Porter on the matter of repairing streets in the Century Square Tract, to the effect th~.t it would cost approximate- ly X500.00 to oil Elm,. Linden,Pine and Locust Avenues, and an additional amount of approximately X250.00 for a spread of stone screenings. The Mayor instructed the Ci ty Clerk to cheokthe budget to ascertain whether or not there is money available to make the necessary repair. City Attorney Hess intrbdueed and read an Ordinance of the Gity of Lynwood requiring the removal of rubbish, etc. Zt was moved by Councilman Davies, and deeonded by Councilman Snyder that same be accepted as read the f ~ rst time, and passed to the second reading. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Williams, Snyder,Davies and Decker. Noes: None. Absent: Counei ]:m~~n Grayson. The hour of 8:00 o'clock having arrived, said time being the hour set for receiving bids for the purchase of cast iron pipe, one deep well turbine centrifugal pump, and for the drilling of a 16" well, also for well casing, as described in a certain ~iotice Inviting Bids, published in the Lynwood •Tribnne on Ms.rch 4th, llth,and 18th. The ~!~ayor inquired of the audience whether there was anybody present who had not submitted their bid, and if so, to do ~so at this time. There was no response. Thereupon the Mayor inquired of the clerk :Ef there had been any bids filed, where- upon the Clerk stated that there had been several filed. A demand drawn on the General Fund in favor oP the Water Department Fund in the amount oP X52.00 was presented. It eras moved by Councilman ~lilliams and seconded by Councilman Snyder that the demand be allowed and a warrant be drawn on the City Treasurer for said amount.
