`fhe City Council met i.n an ~~d journed re ~ular meeting, and as
required by law to canvass the vote of tYie Special P~iunicipal Election
held on January 19th, 1935, at the City Hall, 11341 Plaza Street, on
above date at 7:30 P. lvi.
~n the absence of the Tvlayor, the me eting was called to order
by the City Clerk vvho announced that a motion would be in order to ap-
point a temporary Chairman.
Thereupon it was moved b y Councilman Davies that Councilman
Snyder act as C~,airman and Mayor pro tem requesting Councilman Snyder
to second the motion, which Councilman Snyder did, and upon ro 11 call
showed the following result
Ayes: Councilmen Davies and Snyder.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilmen uilliams, Gillett and Schouten.
Thereupon Councilman Snyder took the chair as Chairman, and
requested the City Clerk to call the roll.
Councilman Davies and Snyder answered the roll call. Coun-
cilmen Williams, Gillett and Schouten were absent.
Mayor Snyder announced that the first order of business
would be the canvassing of the votes of. the Special Election held on
January 19th, 1933.
`thereupon it was moved by Councilman Davies and seconded by
Councilman Snyder that we proceed with trie canvass of the votes, and
upon roll call showed the following results:
Ayes: Councilmen Davies and Snyder.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilmen '~lilliams, Gillett and Schouten.
Mayor Snyder. announced that the entire Council present would
act as tellers.
`s'he 's'ellers reported that the number of votes cast in the
various precincts was as set ~florth in the F~esolution proposed to be a-
dopted and as reported by the election officers in the various precincts,
that the propositions voted upon for and against the recall, and on the
question o.f filling the vacancies in the event the recall prevails, are
as follows. There were 4 absent voters ballots received from the follow-
ing: Henry E. Zeiser, Daisy D. Zeiser, Mrs.. Emma Blanche Kludas and Fred
J. Kludas, which were also can vassed as required by law and shovred the
followring results

Thereupon RESOLUTION N0. 822, entitled : "~; RESOLUTION OF THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYN~.'VOOD, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING THE RESULT OF THE
SPECIAL MUNICII~AL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY OF LYNVJOOD, JANUARY 19TH, 1933,
was read. It was moved rv Councilman Davies and seconded by Councilman
Snyder that said. Resolution No. 822 be adopted.
Roll Call:
Ayes: Councilmen Davies and Snyder.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilmen Villiams, Gillett and Schouten.
It was moved by Councilman Davies and seconded by Councilman
Snyder that Ivtr Lewis Daetweiler be appointed as Councilman of the City of
Lynwood to fill the vacancy created by the recall of Mont Williams.
Roll 'Call:

Noes: None.
Absent: Councilman Gillett.
Thereupon the Mayor requested Mr. Daetweiler to come forward,
which he did, whereupon the City C1Frk administered the Constitutional
oath of office and had same subscribed to, whereupon Mr. Daetweiler was
duly inducted into the office of Councilman of the City of Lynwood, and
took his chair at the Council table.
Thereupon it was Moved by Councilman Davies and seconded by
Councilman Daetweiler that Mr. Walter Wright be appointed Councilman
of the City of ~ynwoad to fill the vacancy created by the recall of Henry
J. S chouten .

Ayes: Councilmen Davies, Daetweiler, and Snyder.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilman Gillett.
Thereupon the Mayor requested Mr. ~'~tright to come forward, which
he did, whereupon the City Clerk administered the Constitutional oath of
office and had same subscribed to, whereupon Mr. Wright was inducted into
office as Councilman of tTie City of Lynwood and took his chair at the Coun-
cil table.
It was moved by Councilm~ Davies and seconded by Councilman
'~ti+right that the Council send Mrs. George Barton a letter of condolence
because of the sorrow caused by the death of her beloved husband.

A communication was received from Chief of Police Toohey re-
questing confirmati on of his act in dismissing Police Officer Hugh Williams
on January 8th, T933. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Davies and
seconded by Councilman Wright that said act of Chief of Police Toohey of
dismissing Police Officer Hugh Williams on January 8th, 1933 be ratified by
the City Council.

The minutes of the last regular meeting of the Council held on
January 17th, 1933 were read. It was moved by Councilman Davies and sec-
onded by Councilman DaettveS_ler that same be approved as read.

It was moved by Councilman Davies and seconded by Councilman
Wright that said demands be allowed and warrsn is be drawn on the City
Treasurer for said various amounts.

Nir. John `1'oot~ey addressed tho Council stating that he wishes
to be relieved of the duties of Chief of Police and wishes to resume his
former position as Desk Sergeant.
`-['hereupon it was moved by Councilman Davies and seconded by
Councilman Daetweiler that the of fi ce of Chief of Police be declared va-
cant.

In the absence of a Chief of Police to make recommendations,
it was duly moved by Councilman Davies that P~Zr. John Toohey be reinsta-
ted as Desk Sergeant of th.e Police Department at a salary of X120.00

Daetweiler that NTr. Leo Bailey be reinstated as Chief of :Police of the
of iynwood at a salary of ~p175.0U per month.
