The City Council of the City of Lynwood met in an ad j ourne d re-
gular session at the City Hall, 11341 Plaza Street, on above date, at 7:30
P.N;.
Mayor pro tempre Snyder in the chair.
Councilmen Wright, Daetweiler, Davies and Snyder answered the
foll call.
Councilman Gillett was absent.
It was moved by Councilman Davies and seconded by Councilman
Daetweiler that the minutes of the previous adjourned regular meeting of
January 24th, 1933 be approved as per copy recei ved by each member of the
Council.

WRITTEN COMNNNICATIONS
Communicationswere received from Congressmen Phil D. Swing and
Joe Crail acknowledging receipt of resolution adopted by the Council oppos-
ing adoption of 3~ Federal tax on all utility bills as proposed bill to be
considered by Congress. There being. no objection, the Mayor ordered same
filed.
A communication was received from F. A. Baughan, Secretary of
the Los Angeles County League of Municipalities, reminding Council;,ofbetheir
next meeting to_be held at San Gabriel in February, the exact date to~ an-
nounced later. There being no objection, the Mayor ordered same filed,
urging the members of the Council to attend.
A communication and resolution was received from the Los Angeles
County Board of Supervisors requesting the Council to send a representa-
tive or reprF:sentatives to meet with the Board on Wednesday, February 1st,
at 10 o'clock A. M. for purpose of discussing proposed consolidation of
overlapping governmental functions. There being no objection, the P~Zayor
ordered the communication filed and the Council requested Mayor Snyder to
attend.
A communication was received from Pdrs. Amanda Keeler requesting
transfer of assessment for lighting maintenance ~t!ich was paid on the wrong
Lot for year 1927 to the correct parcel. A communication was also received
from City Treasurer Reed advising that he made the same error that his pre-
decessors in crediting the lighting assessment~t~ the wrong parcel as
the descri.ntion 3s a metes and bond description, and that he has changed
-- the record that he was responsible for, however, that he does not want
to assume the responsibility of changing any record of his predecessor.
The City Attorney ruled that the Council have no right to change the re-
cords of that date, therefore, the Iuiayor instructed the City Clerk to no-
tify Mrs. Keller that it is not within their jurisdiction to correct the
records, suggesting that she confer with the owner of the Lot to which cre-
dit was made for refund.
A communication was received from D. Guest, Captain of the S al-
vation Army requesting permit to hold street meetings in the business dis-
trict. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Davies and seconded by Coun-
cilman ti'Vright th^t permission be granted, provided they keep on the side
street just off of Long Beach Boulevard.

Reports of activities of the City Court for month of January and
health report for week ending January 21st, 1933 were received. There be-
in~ no ob jection, the P~~ayor ordered same filed.
NEl°J BUSINESS
It was moved by Councilman Davies and seconded by Councilman
~, Daetweiler that Police Officer H. C. Gardners salary be increased `;'6.00
for the last half of January, 1933 to pay for license p7a t®s for years
1932 and 1933, and tnat warrant be drawn on tre City Treasurer for said
amount .

A communication was received from Councilman David E. Gillett
tendering his resignation as member of the City Council of Lynwood, as
his health is seriously affected and therefore cannot carry on as a mem-
ber. It w~.;s moved by Councilman Davies and seconded by councilman Daet-
,,veiler Lhat said resignation be accepted.

It was moved by Councilman Davies and seconded by Councilmen
1~"fright that Nir. Parker C. Childs be appointed Councilman of the City of
Lynwood to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of TvTr. Gil-
lett.

Thereupon the D~ayor requested I`+'r. Childs to come forward, which
he did, whereupon the City Clerk imposed tn.e Constitutional oath. of office
and had same subscribed to, whereupon Mr. Childs was inducted into office
as Councilman of the City of Lynwood and took his seat at the Council table.

Daetweiler that the demands be allowed and warrants be drawn on the City
Treasurer for said various amounts.

ORAL COMMUNICATIONS:
Mr. A. B. ra~ addressed the Council regarding defective side-
~.~a1T~s, and he was informed that the matter would be investigated.
It was moved by Councilman Davies and seconded by Councilman
V'frignt that application be made to the Board of Supervisors .for an appro-
priation of X20,000.00 from the gasoline tax fund, for the purpose of re-
sur:E'acing Snata Fe Avenue from Lynwood Road to the south City limits ~.d
such other streets as the Ci~;y Engineer may designate, and that a committee
from the Council meet with the Board of Supervisors and Road Commissioner
Jones on Thursday afternoon for purpose of discussing said application.
