Mayor Dairies in the chair. Cauncilma,n Snyder, ?~lrig;ht, Daetweiler, Childs and Davies answered the roll ca.l1. The City Clerk read the call which read as follows: "You a.re hereby notified to attend a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Lynwood to be held at the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, this evening, March 13th, 1933, at 9;15 P.M. for the purpose of discussing the emergency that has arisen because of the earth quake and to take necessary action in connection therewith. Yours very truly, FRED J. DAMES, MAYOR, CITY OF LYNWOOD" The Clerk stated that a copy of said notice had been served on each member of the Council at least three Yours prior to this meeting. A communication with resolution attached Sava::, received from the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County wherein they petition Congress to amend the Reconstruction Finance Corporation Act so that money f ram this source may be used for the relief of the stricken Southern California area, and urging the City to set up committees of construction and engineering experts to make a survey to determine the extent of the damage suffered and the financial aid needed. Thereupon RESOLUTION N0. 830, Entitled: "A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY PETITION- ING CONGRESS TO AMEND THE RECONSTRUCTION FINANCE CORFORATION ACT SO THAT MONEY FROM THIS SOURCE BRAY BE USED FOR THE RELIEF OF THE STRICKEN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AREA", was read.. Thereupon it was moved by Councilman Childs and seconded by Councilman Snyder that said Resolution No. 830 be adopted. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Snyder, Wright, Daetweiler, Childs and Davies, Noes: None. It was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman ~trig~ that Messrs. A. E. Skelton, V. A. Nation, Frank F. Menzel, LeRoy Hamilton and H. G. Larson be appointed on the committee to determine the extent of the damage suffered by the recent earth quake and the financial aid needed and to submit a report of same to the Council upon completion thereof, and that Mr. Skelton be appointed to act as Chairman of said committee. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Snyder, ~Iright, Daetweiler, Childs and Davies, Noes: None. Messrs. A. E. Skelton and V. A. Nation were presented and stated that they would accept the appointment as they are willing to help in any capacity. The Mayor instructed the Clerk to notify the other members of the committee and. give them necessary instructions, and also report to the Board of Supervisors that the Council have appointed a committee as per their resolution. ORDINANCE N0. X05, entitled: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DECLARING AN EMERGENCY EXISTS AND PROHIBITING PROFITEERING" among merchants who ire esta.blisYing their business again after the earth quake, was read. It was moved. by Councilman Childs and seconded by Councilman Daetweiler that said Ordinance No. 205 be adopted and published as re- quired by law. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Snyder, ~Nright, Da.etweiier, Childs and Davies. Noes: None . The Mayor instructed the City Clerk to turn over copies of said Ordinance to be posted in the various stores that are open for business. It was moved by Couneilma.n Snyder and seconded by Councilman --~ Wright that the meeting adjourn to March 14th, 1933, at 7;30 P.M.
