A communication was received from City Clerk Cooper of Signal Hill inviting council to attend an opening of their sewage treatment plant on tiVednesday, April 5th, lunch to be served at 12:15 P. M. without cost. There being m objection, the Mayor ordered the communication filed. A communication was received from the Ca1_ifornia Consolidated Water Company acknowledging receipt with appreciation of our letter of PJ~ar.c 16th thanking them for water donated during the earthquake period. There being no objection, the T,Iayor ordered the communication filed. A communication was received from the Lynwood Exchange Club com- mend3.ng the council on the handling of eartha~ake rehabilitation matters; also complimenting Frank Tvlenzel on his services in inspecting public build- ings. There being no objection, the I~:Iayor ordered the communication filed. A communication was received from the Lynwood Theatre requesting refund of unearned business license due to loss of theatre caused by earth- quake requesting refund in the amount of w~35.00 covering 7 months period . 't`here being no objection, the l~?ayor ordered the matter turned over to the City Attorney for investigation ~d report as to whether or not the council are permitted by law to make refunds of unearned business license. A communic~?tion was received frorr~ the Pioneer Paper Company stat- ing that they have cancelled the 20 years guarantee on the C3_ty Hall roof on account of the earthquake, offering to have same inspected for X2.50. Councilman rhilds a<~~?.res~~ed the Council stating that he believes that it w,--1a ]_d be of no avsi ]_ to ?~a~re the roof inspected at this time as any leakage tFrould be d~_fficl~It to locate until it rains, there~'ore, the TJlayor directed the communication filed ar~d no further action was taT~en. A communication was received frorli the Board of supervisors ac- companied with resolution adopted by their Honorable body endorsing Assembl, Bill No. 538 relative to gasoline tax legislation and requesting the Counci~ to take similar action. There being; no ob jection, the TJlayor ordered the matter turned over to tt~e City Attorney for investigation and report.
