A report of activities of Building; Department and License Depart-
ment _for month o.f Tvi~~rch, 1933 was received from Building Inspector Collins.
There being no objection, the I~i~~.yor ordered same filed.
Discussion was had relative to rarotective ordinance for local
building contractors and their helpers.
Thereupon Ordinance No. 2(?9, entitled: "A~ emergency Ordinance
prohibiting; the employment of laborers, artisians, mechanics, contractors
.and helpers who were not residents of the City of Lynwood on the 9th day
of l~~arch, 1935, was read by title. Ti~ereupon it was moved by Councilman
"Jrirht and seconded bTr Councilman Childs that said ordinance be accepted
as read far the first time by title anal ;Hass to tree second reading.

Lynwood theatre far refund of unearned business license, stating that
there is no provision in the law whereby the Council can legally refund
any license money. Chief oi' Notice Bailey addressed the Council stating
th.tzt they have witridravvn their r. equest. Tr~ere being no ob jection, the
Ma-ror order tr,~e communication reauesting refund filed.
lti~ir . Barry ~.7ade, represent3_ng the L~rnvrrood Unemployed Cooperative
Relief Association, Unit T1o. 4, addressed the Council submitting petition
directed to the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County, California,
requesting teat no discrimination be tolerated in the selection of employee
for Stabilization Bureau and :~el.fare work; also to permit more days for
single men. Thereupon it liras moved by Councilman Childs and seconded
by Councilman Daetvreiler teat tl^e Cler?T b~, instructed to send the petition
by special delivery to the Board of Superjri sors, together ~rri th a letter
requesting earnest consideration from the Council of the yetition presented
by the Lynwood Unemployed Coo_erative Relief Association., Unit Na. 4.
