"r 1 '1'ne City Council of. the City of Lynwood met in a regular session, at the City Hall, 11331 Plaza Street, on above date, at 7;.30 P. Vii. Mayor Davies in the chair. Councilmen Snyder, ',Yright, Daetweiler, Childs and Davies answered the roll call. Zt was moved by Councilman Z"dright and seconded by Councilman Chil that the minutes of ttie previous adjourned regular meeting of April 25th, 1933 be approved as written. Roll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Snyder, Wright, Daetweiler, Childs and Davies. Noes: None. WRITTEN CONir1IUNICA`.PI ONS A communication was received from Senator J. W. McKinley ac- knowledging receipt of Council's endorsement of Assembly dill 159, 161, 164 and 416 assuring that when it comes up for consideration on the floor of the Senate that it will receive his support; also a communication from Walter Fi. Little, Speaker of the Assembly, acknowledging receipt of tele- gram relative to said bills, stating that he voted for them when they pas- sed the Assembly; also acknowled~;i.ng receix~t of letter endorsing Assembly Bull No. 675, stating that same ras also passed the Assembly. There being no ob~eetion, the Mayor ordered said communications filed. A communication was received from Chief of ~'olice Bailey recom- mending the granting of a license to sell beer to Mr. C. E. 7'hierer,~loca- ted at 11453 Long Beach Boulevard, to serve with meals. Thereupon it was° moved by Councilman Wright and seconded by Councilman Daetweiler that per - mit be granted and license issued b~ the Chief of Police as per his recom- mendations. Roll Call Ayes: Cou~icilmen Wright,. Daetweiler, Childs and Davies. Noes: Councilman Snyder. A communication was received from Judge Howard Hemmenway to the effect that he must undergo an operation on May 10th, 1933, therefore re- questing a 30 day leave of absence fromhis duties as City Judge. Thereupon it-was moved by Councilman Childs and seconded by Councilman Wright that the request be granted. ' Roll Call: Ayes: Oouncilmen Snyder, 'Wright, Daetweiler, Childs ~ d Davies. - Noes: None. Reports of activities of the Building Inspector's Department any? of~the City Court were received; a~so health report for week en ding April 22nd, and work performed during the month of March, 1933. There being no objection, the Mayor ordered said reports filed. NEW BUSINESS: pec ficat ohs for the construction of an elevated water tank of 100,000 gallons capacity, compiled by hater Superintendent Bateman, was re- ceived. It was moved by Councilman Childs and seconded by Councilman Sny- der that said Specifications be accepted and a~topted. poll Call: Ayes: Councilmen Snyder, Y',lright, Daetweiler, Childs and Davies. Noes: None. It was moved by founcilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman ~"Jight that the City Clerk be directed to advertise for bids for the pur- chase of a 100,000 gallons capacity elevated steel water tank in accordance with said Specifications, fixing May 31st, 1933 at 8:00 P. NI. as the date and time for the receiving of said bids. - Roll Call - Ayes: Councilmen Snyder,.Wright, Daetweiler, Childs and Davies. Noes: None. A proposed contract was received from the Standard Oil Company for fiscal year 1933-34, offering gasoline at 112¢ per gallon maximum price; and the City to receive advantage of a price lower than said figure, if prices reduce. Mr. W. T. Smith, representing the Standard Oil Company ad- dressed the Council on the matter. 't'here being no ob3ection, the Mayor directed the proposed contract filed for future consideration and no further action was taken. `t'hereupon Mr. Smith requested the copies of said contract with- drawn and returned to him, which the Mayor directed the Cit~r Clerk to do, whereupon the Clerk complies with the request and instructions. Bateman, for purchase of 15 meters at ~9.5U each, was received. 'There- upon it was moved by Councilman Snyder and seconded by Councilman Wright that said requisition be approved. A map was received from the Regional Planning Commission of Los Angeles County designating certain highways in the City of Lynwood, re- questing the plan an prover? and adopted by the Council. There being no ob- jection, the Mayor directed the map turned over to the City Engineer for checking and report his findings and recommendations at the next Council meeting.
